Waterfront homes bring with them a cachet unlike any other property. Not only are the views constantly changing with the weather and the light, but the space covered by a lake, river, bay or ocean will forever remain undeveloped.

Buyers of beach resort homes are especially eager to find waterfront property since their vacation activities focus on the water. The Buccini/Pollin Group Inc. has developed the Rivendell, an upscale high-rise condominium with views of Assawoman Bay and the Atlantic Ocean in Ocean City, Md.

The Rivendell, at 81st Street and the Coastal Highway, has 88 two-, three- and four-bedroom homes with panoramic views from the homes and an ocean-view courtyard.

While Ocean City itself offers plenty of recreation, Rivendell residents will enjoy on-site amenities, too. The development includes a bayside restaurant, a fitness center overlooking the bay and resort-style indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The community is within one block of the beach.

The Rivendell has a secured lobby and lounge area, controlled-access covered parking for residents and ample guest parking. Three elevators service every floor.

The homes range from $599,900 to $1,800,000, with monthly condominium fees, which vary according to the size of the home, but average $450. The developer currently is offering to pay all closing costs for buyers who use the preferred lender and title company.

The homes have open floor plans with coffered ceilings, and each has a private balcony. Standard features include 9-foot ceilings, natural stone and ceramic tile flooring in the living areas, carpet in the bedrooms, crown moldings, a remote-controlled fireplace, 8-foot-tall windows and sliding glass doors, ceiling fans and a luxurious marble master bath with a whirlpool tub, double vanities and a separate glass-enclosed shower.

The kitchen has granite counters and stainless steel appliances. Each home also has a laundry room with a full-size washer and dryer, energy-efficient heating and cooling, and prewiring for cable, telephone and high-speed Internet access.

The two-bedroom, two-bath model has 1,617 square feet, with 455 square feet in balcony space. This home has an open kitchen with a breakfast bar and an open living room and dining room with a fireplace.

A small balcony is adjacent to the dining room, with a larger balcony at the end of the living room. The master bedroom has a walk-in closet and bath. The second bedroom has a standard closet and is adjacent to a full bath. A third balcony is accessible from the second bedroom and from the foyer.

The three-bedroom, 3½-bath model has 2,041 square feet, with an additional 328 square feet of balcony space.

This home has an open kitchen with a breakfast bar, a corner fireplace in the living room and a separate dining room.

A wide balcony wraps around the dining room and living room and is also accessible from the master bedroom.

The master suite has two walk-in closets and a bath. A powder room and a laundry room are nearby.

The second and third bedrooms each have access to a second balcony. Each of these bedrooms has a standard closet and a private full bath.

The four-bedroom, 4½-bath model has 2,989 square feet, with an additional 1,747 square feet in balcony space.

This home has a balcony that wraps around three sides of the home and is accessible from the dining room area, the living room, the master bedroom and the second bedroom.

This floor plan has an open kitchen with a breakfast bar and an open living and dining room with a fireplace.

The master bedroom has two sets of sliding glass doors to the balcony, walk-in closet and a bath. The second bedroom has a sliding glass door to the balcony and a private full bath.

The third and fourth bedrooms each have access to an additional balcony. The third bedroom has a fireplace and a private full bath, while the fourth bedroom has a walk-in closet and a bath with a tub and separate shower.

This home also has a powder room and a laundry room.
