SEEN AND HEARD AT CITIZENS BANK PARK

PHILADELPHIA — Few cities can match Philadelphia when it comes to passion for the local sports teams, and yesterday was a prime example.

Three hours before first pitch at Citizens Bank Park, thousands of fans were already tailgating, milling around or waiting patiently in line for the handful of standing-room only tickets available.

It was the kind of anticipation usually associated with football games, not baseball. Suffice it to say, the Phillies’ long-suffering fans desperately want to make the playoffs for the first time in 14 seasons.
