A distinguished past president of the National Academy of Sciences wrote this letter saying why he rejected the global warming theory, and urged those other scientists to sign this petition:

Please read his bio on the website of Rockefeller University where he was also a past president:

Here is a graph comparing what the global warming theory was predicting back in 1988 to the actual temperature record of the last 20 years. 2008 is measurably colder than 1988 - not warmer:

The most widely read paper on the subject, published in a peer-reviewed journal of science explains exactly why we don't need to worry about CO2 causing global warming:

On page 10 of this review, scientists illustrate a rational energy policy for the United States. They show how this will give us energy independence, and provide a great abundance of energy for us into the foreseeable future, plus create hundreds of billions of dollars in additional revenue generated from energy exports to the rest of the world. We do not need to finance terrorism to buy oil. We have more than enough oil here at home. We should be developing these resources to their fullest potential instead of cowering in fear of imaginary doom.
This is not what the United Nations wants you to read, or believe, because it takes away all of the usual excuses for throttling the U. S. economy, and deprives these political types of their ability to control the American people through fear and misplaced guilt. Political types in every country always want an excuse to extract bribes, campaign contributions, taxes, fees, etcetera, by threatening industry with expensive regulations and more taxes. They would like us Americans to pay them for our freedom, while we are working in any given industry, as we bear these additional burdens, with our employers paying us less than they could otherwise afford, while other industries pass on the additional costs to us as consumers.
The limousine liberals sit back, fat dumb and happy, hoping nobody notices how they satiate their appetites for the planet's resources, consuming ten times as much as any one of us, while their chartered jets burn enough fuel in a day to power a Chevy for a year. How dare they preach to us on the need to get by on less, when we already get by on much less than they do?
