You may wish to review what you publish more carefully for cohesion. At one point in this essay, you say that "caucuses are frequently gross violations of the one person/one vote principle," yet later you recommend "[a]bolishing proportional representation and requiring winner-take-all results in state primaries."
I live in Texas, and I took great pride and enjoymnet in the opportunity to participate in a caucus. I had thought that I had only a few fellow Democrats in my precinct, but hundreds of us crowded into the polling place. I was delighted to get the chance to chat with like-minded people, rather than to simply walk in, cast a ballot, and walk out, under the watchful eyes of election officials.
I respect your right to express your opinion, and I'm glad that I read it, because I realize that something I take for granted might be argued away by people like you who don't share my interests.
Caucuses are held by the party not by the state. If the Democratic party allows caucuses to decide the nominee then that's perfectly fine. The truth is that Obama is a creation of the media not the political system. As a result of his "stunning" victories in the caucus states he was able to gain national recognition, not for being an able politician but for being a minority candidate who won. The Democratic party doesn't need to hold primaries. All it has to do is flash 'head-shots' of candidates in front of the press and the press will decide who is the best candidate.
Lanny's upset because Hillary didn't take the Dem nomination. Davis was looking forward to returning to the White House under another corrupt Clinton administration - big bucks to be had from Presidential scandals. He makes some good points tho about how Dem candidates are somewhat more 'selected' then elected tho.
But you have to follow the Dem money. B. Hussein (and Kerry before him) is what you get when Dean is handling the Soros/socialist moneybags. Dean (and even Soros?!) must be a Rovian plant...:>)
