Zimmerman, Lannan, and Flores will never be cheaper to sign than they are now. The Nats need to make the three of them realistic long term deals. They are the future. They should avoid broken down (post-steroid) old guys.
The Nats can take the blame for the injury bug. LoDuca and Estrada were both broken goods when they signed them. Thats why they were still free agents when the Nats signed them. No other team wanted them.
If the minor league system is as good as management claims it is, bring them up. We finished in last place with veterans, we can finish in last pllace without them.
Mark Zuckerman omitted one other payroll loss. Jim Bowden's salary should have been included. If I was the Lerners I wouldn't let Bowden spend any of my money. I was worried about the players Rizzo added as they were former players of his in Arizona but then I realized he couldn't possibly be a worse evaluator of talent than Bowden
Nats are garbage.
