Tim says we don't want to water down conservative principles, but on the other hand says in so may words we have to go after the voter who is attracted to the other party. Sure you can repackage principles but when the voter wants his cake and eat it too without having to pay for it, you either have to give in and tell him or her what they want to hear just to get their vote or stick to your guns and wait for them to come around to the truth. The problem is we're so far down the line of relativistic truth that we may never see people come around and smell the coffee in our lifetime. I say, stick to the truth, make it hip and compelling but don't water it down even if you loose in the short term.

Yes Tim, Republicans need to move away from being the grumpy old guy to whom nobody listens. Republican party needs to lib up or limp out.

I see 2 problems with the GOP 'brand' right now. 1) It reflects the image of an older generation that needs to have fresh faces and ideas. While McCain has principles I adhere to, that may not be the case for younger voters. 2) The party needs to have a core which is energized to register voters, get them to the polls, win the turnout contest, and ,lastly but not least, represent the people who elected the officials in the party.

"He noted that the Republican Party adheres to the free market and must realize "we've been losing market share" and "our customers, namely voters, have been preferring the products of our competitor." That's not it at all Tim (and you too McCain). It's just that RINOs like you keep conservatives home on election day. The GOP is not too conservative, far from it. But independents and lefties alike can see a the GOP selling out their conservative base - nobody trusts a Benedict Arnold. The real electorate is at the point where they'll vote for ANYONE who promises term limits. It's our 14% approval-rated congress that's the REAL problem in the US.

"Lib up"? Ha ha, I don't think so. You might as well say let's jump off a cliff. Republicans need to stick clearly to their core principles. "Libbing it up" got them into trouble in the first place. "Libbing it up" is EXACTLY WHAT NOT TO DO. "Libbing it up" means going to hell in a hand-basket, so why would anybody do that? "Libbing it up" means Limping Out. No, I would say to Republicans, whatever you do DO NOT "LIB UP".

The last poll I read had Congress at 9%, the lowest approval rating in history.
