What the Redskins learned

MASON AND HORTON WILL BE ON A 53-MAN ROSTER

Sure it was only one game, but Marcus Mason and Chris Horton took a extended opportunities and flourished with them. It could be tough for the Redskins to stash either guy on the practice squad if they don’t make the team.

ZORN IS SLY New coach Jim Zorn told a sideline reporter he wanted to run the ball a lot in the second half, and then Colt Brennan proceeded to wing it 10 times in two drives.

THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT

The NFL Draft is often a sore subject in this town, but the Class of 2008 had a stellar debut Sunday night. Beyond Horton, guys like Brennan, Fred Davis, Chad Rinehart and Rob Jackson were standouts and this was without Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly.

FAVRE CAN CURE CANCER

OK, maybe not, but coverage of Brett Favre’s flight arriving in Wisconsin and live look-ins at Packers practice? Maybe the NFL Network can just have a 24-hour Favre Cam.

MAYBE PEOPLE SHOULDN’T DOUBT HART

Mike Hart certainly didn’t look too small or too slow while carving up the Redskins’ defense for 53 yards on four carries. Kenton Keith and Dominic Rhodes certainly can’t feel as secure as they did two days ago.
