Oil prices are dropping, sharply, just as market analysis predicts, when it became apparent that the country is firmly FOR drilling for more oil. The liberal mantra is that drilling won't lower prices. That idea is so obviously blockheaded that at least 67% of the country rejected it. Just the expectation that more drilling will ultimately occur is driving down prices already.

Just maybe, just maybe, global warming is not so unequivocal? Climate change might be, but controlling carbon emissions won't control climate change until we can control the sun. Energy independence is an unequivocal risk but you can't switch "cold turkey" from over 100 years of business, economic and cultural system based on carbon energy as an election year reaction. The current environment must first be stabilized and then a legislated mandated plan developed for transition to alternative sources based on real science, not consensus, while the threat is still active. Carbon or otherwise, how much energy do we have, how much do we project we will need and how do we meet that need (physically and behaviorally) and remain energy independent?

I guess Nobama will have to come up with a sequel to his "Audacity of Hope" book. It will be called "The Party of Austerity". It will proscribe alternate forms of transportation for Americans and include bicycles and electric cars, etc. I can almost picture the wicked witch of the west Pelosi and Reid the hack on a bicycle built for two. Now there is a good idea for a campaign picture. Anyone who does not believe the price of oil will plummet the minute Congress approves more drilling, is either naive or stupid.

The Dems will old onto offshore drilling as a bargaining chip after the election The drilling must start sometime but the party in control of Congress is not going to give any serious domestic policy an airing in advance of its possibly being weakened by the forthcoming election.

pfb32765 below says "Anyone who does not believe the price of oil will plummet the minute Congress approves more drilling, is either naive or stupid." Or hypocritical, manipulative, scheming, phony and calculatingly deceptive.
