Good for Mrs. McVey. The attitude that the DC government has taken on this issue since the Supreme Court decision is nothing short of astounding. Let's see...here's an example. National Firearms Act of 1934 -- definition of "machine gun" -- "The Act defines a number of categories of weapons which are regulated therein. Collectively, these are known as 'Title II' weapons and include the following:" "1. Machine guns - this includes any firearm which can fire more than 1 cartridge per trigger pull. Both continuous fully-automatic fire and "burst fire" (ie, weapons with a 3-round burst feature) are considered machine gun features." This provision specifically does not include semi-automatic pistols, which fire one round for each pull of the trigger. Yet DC has taken it upon itself, for purely political purposes, to define semi-automatic weapons as "machine guns." This action is in violation of federal law -- NFA 1934. This is just one flaw in the "thinking" of the illustrious DC city council.

Mrs. McVey I applaud you. The concept of Home Rule was approved so citizens like you can petition for redress of grievances, Not for an elite few to flaunt the Constitution and treat their citizens as vassals.

I believe DC residents like the idea of protecting themselves, rather than waiting for the police to arrive after a tragedy has occurred. The U.S. Supreme Court was, and is only one vote away from overturning the 2nd Amendment. If Obama wins the election he will most likely be in position to install at least two justices, and we can be almost positive they will be left wing activist. This alone is enough for me not to vote for Obama.

"Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton, D.C. Democrat, opposes the bill. She said it treads on home rule in the District and would be detrimental to the city's crime-fighting efforts." There is nothing like the Constitution of the United States to tread on home rule in the District. Perhaps Ms. Holmes Norton believes that D.C. residents do not enjoy the Bill of Rights.

Theme soung of the DC police. Here we come to save the day! Sorry we were so far away! Not our fault, we have to say. There were donuts for which we had to pay. We will be there on the dime, The next time you have a crime. Not our fault, we say a lying, When someone you love is laying dying. Maybe next time if you call, You can borrow Mayors Bodyguard to stand watch. But he won't give him up, no siree. He created the death, and the crime spree. So when you read the awards of your city council, Don't forget the large stone ones. The names of the innocent that they lay to rest, Because the criminals think it best.
