Hey one of those comments was mine, But you left out the link I had in it, so here is the whole thing with the link.
I do live in the bible belt (upstate SC) and there was a lot of evangelical Christians and evangelical leaders for Romney at first but then found out about his record and also did not like his attack ad. They ALL now say they was wrong for not supporting Huckabee, This fact has been on the news and in the papers. Romney has way less support now then he did when he was running.
Don't blam it on evangelical Christians they suported him at first but now back Huckabee for VP.

Mike Huckabee has a new site www.mikehuckabee.com
Google “huckabee obama gun”
You will get a million hits!
Many were outraged by Huckabee’s vile Obama assassination comment. Does anyone really believe McCain will pick Huck and subject himself to this train wreck?!
Here’s one hit in a million!

Shelbysez, I think everyone in the USA that has a TV already knows that............However the Rasmussen Report was done just a week or so ago and Huckabee still did better the Romney .......I guess most knew it was joke gone bad and he mean no harm, even Obama, Many of Obamas supporters came to Huck PAC and said they knew that he didn't mean it the way it ended up sounding.........
the Rasmussen Report Shows its a non-issue with most everybody!!!
Why the ramped up attacks on Huckabee and his supporters?
Why hasn't the question of why mostly Mormon Utah voted 90% for Romney, a one term Governor, when they had a better choice in two term Governor, Mike Huckabee? By all accounts, Mike Huckabee had a much better political record and higher moral standards? Romney changed his position on many key issues that are crucial to garner the support of the Republican base. If truth be told, I bet thousands more "Christians" voted for Romney, than "Mormons" voted for Huckabee. They were duped by deceitful media stories. Some where even launched by the good old “conservative” talking heads that had a financial incentive (Bain Capital/Clear Channel) for their distortions and outright lies.
Now, the media is so busy launching their bigoted attacks against Christianity in an effort to manipulate the election to realize THEY are the ones that have the REAL problem with some people’s “religion” not Huckabee or his supporters. Mike Huckabee is the true victim of religious intolerance, during the entire primary he was dismissed as a “former Baptist minister.” Many may not even know that Huckabee had more Governmental experience than anyone running for President. He still has a very high (66%) approval rating in Arkansas, a state that had had a Democrat for Governor for over 40 years before Mike took office.
The liberals have ramped up their attacks because they have seen the VP poll data and know Mike Huckabee is the only one that really increases McCain’s chances against Obama, and they are afraid. What are they afraid of? They are afraid that McCain could still win if he picks Mike Huckabee.
Red Central: The answer to your question is "because that is the only way that McCain can win".
Rose from Ohio: To be against someone is not the same as being bigoted. I am against Romney because he doesn't really stand for anything and will say anything to get elected. That is not bigotry.
Lisa(?): I agree with your comment about the WT editorial staff. However, I will only vote for McCain if he chooses Huckabee, because it is clear to me that if he does not, he has caved in to pressure from people who are worse than the Democratic alternative.
I disagree with the statement that Mike Huckabee has done little to get John McCain elected. He has spoken for him many times on national television, represented him at several GOP conventions in the South and reminds members of his PAC on a regular basis to support and vote for McCain. He would be even more visible (because the media would recognize him instead of their present attitude of either neglect or disdain) if McCain did choose him as his running mate.

Now winwinaround, we both know those polls include the Dems! The Dems, and even some Repubs, probably don't know most of the other candidates besides Romney and huckabee. The Dems know very little about Huck, except for his asinine Obama assassination comment, but they don't want Romney to help McCain, so they choose Huck. But they will be voting for Obama anyway so who cares!!!!??? This will not help McCain!
What you fail to say is the IMPORTANT PART! When only Repubs are polled, Romney wins AS USUAL!
You poor Huckie parrots are fixated on your Rasmussen poll but nobody cares because it is not a true reflection of the best choice for McCain to make.
As far as Huck's sick assassination comment, sure the Dems might say they accept Huck's lame apology, but during the heated general election you know they would use this big time! Assassinating our first black nominee and their messiah Obama!!! We'd never hear the end of it!

Once again you are sadly delusional. There are so many better VP candidates than Huck with all his SCARY skeletons, such as Romney, Palin, Paw..., and the newest guy being vetted. Why do you insist that McCain commit political suicide???!!! He will not do that. So give it a rest!
"Facts are stubborn things" about the only quote Romney said that he didn't flip on and I agree with him on this one. The hard cold facts are that, even with total media snubbing the past 2 months, McCain never mentioning Huck as vp running mate, and the media praising Romney and all but measuring his head for his vp crown.... Huckabee was at the top of the Rassmussen poll taken 7/27/08. He helped McCain +8, Pawlenty even helped +1 and Romney caused a -6. A clear 14 points between Huckabee and Romney. The survey usa election polls released the first of June also showed Huckabee helped McCain's ticket most compared with Pawlenty, Romney or Lieberman in the swing states. Funny, though that between June and July Huckabee's numbers actually improved!!! The more people get to know of Huckabee, the more they like him. The more Washington shuns him, the more we KNOW he is the best person for our ticket. He has done a fantastic job on Fox, is always honest, so right on in his accessments and he connects with people in a way that has been compared to Bill Clinton or Ronald Reagan. He shares the same integrity and passion for his convictions as McCain and has a PROVEN record of working across party lines to get things done.
Shelbysez, If your a evangelical then what is your belief on abortion and homosexual marriage? Do you agree with Romney's view on it when he was Governor or his view on it as Presidential candidate? You do know that he has switched on this and many many more right? its a Fact!!!
We already gave you the proof.
And you do know that Democrats can vote for republican Right? And you do know that McCain is trying to get some of the Democrats votes also don't you? Sometimes it's not about Democrat or Republican, its who is best. its about who connects with the largest amount of people.
<quote>Why hasn't the question of why mostly Mormon Utah voted 90% for Romney, a one term Governor, when they had a better choice in a two term Governor (Mike Huckabee)? </quote>
I'm guessing that the fact that Romney ran the high profile and highly successful Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City that brought millions and millions of dollars into the Utah economy just a few years ago may have had something to do with a few people in Utah voting for him.
<quote>If truth be told, I bet thousands more "Christians" voted for Romney; than "Mormons" voted for Huckabee.</quote>
Mormons are Christian.
So, your sentence reads: If truth be told, I bet thousands more "Christians" voted for Romney than "Christians" voted for Huckabee.
<quote>Many may not even know that Huckabee had more Governmental experience than anyone that was running for President.</quote>
John McCain was elected to Congress in 1982 and has served consecutively since. Huckabee wasn't elected until 1993.

I beg to differ...if huckabee were on the ticket you can bet huckabee's assassination of Obama comment would become huge ammunition for the Dems. Here are a few examples:

Mike Huckabee: Minister and Street Thug
Posted May 16, 2008 | 06:18 PM (EST)
"So Mike Huckabee makes a wisecrack at the NRA convention about Obama frantically trying to get away from a gun being pointed at him.
This is what passes for a Christian man of peace today in this charming country we find ourselves in. Spy magazine ran a marvelous caption years ago, I recall, under a picture of Kissinger: "Henry Kissinger, Socialite and War Criminal." Now we have Mike Huckabee: Christian Minister and Street Thug.
Huckabee should not just apologize, he should be forced to turn in his collar."

DISGUSTING: Mike Huckabee Jokes About Obama Being Shot
by Steve Singiser
Fri May 16, 2008 at 11:51:26 AM PDT
"Don't know quite what to think about this one. CNN is reporting that while speaking at the NRA this morning, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee responded to a loud noise offstage by making a joke about Barack Obama trying to evade a gunman.
Jokes about black political leaders avoiding gunfire, from a southern governor. I usually have a pretty good sense of humor, but I don't get it.
They have absolutely no sense of shame. None."

Huckabee's Obama Assassination Proclamation
Posted May 17th 2008 11:08AM by TMZ Staff
"Good thing this guy dropped out of the race, cause we certainly don't need this brand of presidential "humor."
Former candidate Mike Huckabee was speaking Friday to the NRA, when there was a loud bang. Instead of continuing his speech, he aimed a joke at Barack Obama.
Huckabee apologized for his "offhand remark," saying it was not "intended to offend or disparage Senator Obama." Obama, for his part, refused to comment.
Because what's funnier than killing a U.S. Senator?!"
How could this be good for John McCain and for the Republican party?!
Shelbysez & Rose from Ohio I really do respect your support for Romney, He is lucky to have you and I hope he knows it.
My deal is I do not know what Romney stands on.
Does he support Homosexual marriage or not?
Does he support abortion or not?
These are big issues with me.
How can I trust him when he once was one way and switched right before running for President, how do I know he will not switch again?
I know Huckabee's stance on this and he has never switched. So I trust him more on this.
Your right about Romney and his democrat Gov. But to me it looks like Huckabee was more effective working with his in his state.
Everybody says Romney can save the economy, just like they said before he was elected Governor and its clear he didn't, see he would also have to work with the Democrats in Congress just like he did in his state and the way it looks to me, Huckabee was more effective in this then Romney.
Our Gov. is nothing like the Olympics, not even close, The Olympics doesn't have Democrats and Republicans playing tug-a-war for power.
And I just plan feel like Huckabee cares more, just the vibe I get when I hear him speak.
This is why I like Huckabee, I'm not trying to make you not like Romney but just trying to let you know why I like Huckabee more.
Like I said Romney is lucky to have you.
GOD Bless You Both!!!
I posted a longer response to WinWinAround in a different thread. Here I will just say that she/he incorrectly stated my position.
