The photo caption is incorrect. Barboza's great-great-grandfather, John Curtis Gay, was a white man who served in the Civil War, not Revolutionary. At least you guys didn't run the handout picture AP had of the soldier whose caption suggests photography had been invented in the era of the Revolutionary War.
I have been doing my family history for over 15 years. In order for his grandfather to have fought in that war he would have to have been born in the 1700's. I would like to know what the dates of birth and death of this man is. His 2nd great grandfather would have fought in the Civil War and not the Revolutionary War. I have several 3rd great grandfather's who did!
