Not only did they start our anthem late and cut it off early, they also played a butchered version of it. There is a shot of Phelps' mother trying to sing along and she is confused by the Chinese version of the Star Spangled Banner (as was I singing along with American pride). You cannot tell me that this was not a deliberate tactic by the Chinese.
Gold medal to Phelps and a gold medal to the Chinese Government for their demonstration of how communist regimes employ subtle propaganda (yet so obvious).
