The Terror of Saakashvili and his henchmans against ossetians of folk can not be a justified longing to install the constitutional order. Georgian military shoot at all contract. They use the forbidden systems of massive fire "Hail". Give the tank an oldsters and childrens. (http://yashin.livejournal.com/652089.html)They blocking a roads humanitarian help. A Thousands of the peace people are presently found in precipitated Tshinvali in the most heavy condition. There are some american journalists among them(http://www.radiomayak.ru/doc.html?id=88909&cid=). The main organizers of the conflict must be dedicated international tribunal and penalized on the whole strictnesses of the law. Saakashvilli is Hitler of 21-th century. West media have raised hysterics about Russian occupation of Georgia. Georgian powers deludes the western media. Russia inflicts the blows on military objects only. But that russian have tightened CHernomorskiy fleet into the Georgian coast this necessary to prevent weapon import from Ukraine. Russia is not interested in escalations of the conflict. Russia is interested in the peace on Caucasus, stop criminal action georgian powers and punishment guilty in occurring only. Russia not against the georgian entering in NATO. And no need to recall about event in Hungary and Czechoslovakia. Thereafter passed too much years. I consider inadmissible and criminal support fasist's mode of Saakashvili

Excellent reporting on the situation in Georgia. With friends like us...who needs enemies! While Bush plays in Beijing, Putin flies to Georgia to oversea the destruction of an emerging Democracy. Take another look into his soul, Mr. Bush

For whatever reason, Russia is taking advantage of the opportunity. At this point it does not matter who started it, it is a matter of how far the Russians are willing to take it. They have the following opportunities: (1) Replace the leadership in Georgia to one favorable to Russia; (2) Take strategic permanent control of the Ossetia; (3) Take tactical control of Abkhazia through controlling the port and inland waters;(4) Create strategic control threat via the oil pipleline, if Iran closes the Straits of Hormuz and supporting Venezuela to cut off oil to the U.S.

titusville: Great opportunity for you to Bush bash. Please tell us what Bush should be doing.... Sending U.S. troops into Georgia to fight Russians? Former KGB agent Putin seems to be pushing for a return of the cold war and he has chosen to place Georgia on the front lines. We are living in dangerous times.

Kind of reminds me of 9/11 when Bush kept reading to school children when we were under attack. He needs to get his but home. Georgia has had troops serving with ours in Iraq. We cannot abandon a friend.

The apologists for Russia will follow the party line. They will condemn anyone who supports the West and opposes Russia. The left in this country expects the US to wave a magic wand and settle all disputes. At the same time they moan about US hegemony and the Imperial US. There is NO WAY the US alone can stop Russia. We have no leverage over them. The Russians have oil and natural gas that the Europeans need. The Europeans at best will only complain but not support any serious actions. The Russians have planned the invasion of Georgia for years. They have launched amphibious landings, multiple deep air strikes and large troop moves into Georgia. They are repeating the kind of actions they performed in Hungary, Poland and Czechoslovakia. If you want to see what the future will be with Obama, just watch what the Russians do in Georgia.

Where are all the "antiwar" protesters, anyone seen them? I thought all war was bad.

Russia has been sabre rattling for a while now. They've buzzed our ships, shut off oil to Europeans during the peak of winter, flown nuclear bombers to Cuba, etc. Putin wants to show Russia's military might and has just been looking for an excuse. This is why Putin is using way more effort than necessary. The little man has never been happy with the end of the Cold War and would love nothing more than to recreate it. He also wants Russia to control the entire region again and has never accepted the independence of the CIS states. Putin is a real threat to global peace. He says that Georgia has been working with the USA so, in his eyes, he has effectively attacked the USA. Who's going to stop them? It won't be the US, NATO or the UN.

Wow. I am so sad for all of you. You read a newspaper listen to media that is BIAS!!!!! Ofcourse you will never hear the truth. First of all Ossetia was attacked by Georgia. Ossetia was bombed nonstop by georgians who initiated war. Let me remind you that it is a peaceful city full of noncombatan civilians. Bush claims Russia is being "aggressive" against Georgia? WOW. I urge you not to get your information from a censored source. Look deeper for answers. By the way, Georgia censored all this information from its citizens. They claimed to cease fire and withdraw right after bombing and destroying Ossetia? Does that even make sense? They are still on the borders fighting and waiting for U.S. to step in. War feeds economy, and who loves money more than the U.S.? I love this country but i hate the people who run it. Good luck to you all and dont believe false print.
