Obama doesn't think strategically on national defense. Why would Russia react so quickly and aggressively? Georgia is a path to become an energy superpower. They have used energy as a intimidation weapon in Europe before. Control of the Caspian Sea pipeline is an opportunity they cannot bypass and therefore will not stop until they have control of Georgia. Bush is transitioning out. Our majority congressional politicians are environmentalists and their liberal optimism sets expectations that energy will remain consistent and stable. For our candidates, neutral on the issue is not an option if we are to maintain NATO as a viable entity to protect Europe from Russian intimidation/aggression. Maybe the Europeans don't realize it but John McCain does. McCain knows Putin's soul and it is pure KGB. Then again, maybe the Europeans don't care.
Obama wants to talk to the Russians.
Talk is the modern liberals answer to every hostility.
While Obama is planning to talk, Russia rapes and pillages.
If war is never the answer (Obama is the candidate because of his support by those folks) how do you answer the war-makers?
Obama will talk to them.
And when the war-makers are rolling through Atlanta, Georgia, instead, he'll still be wanting to talk.
Russia’s invasion into the State of Georgia is just another indication as to why America must provide the freedom loving people of Georgia an anti-missile protection, not just for Georgia, but also the entire Western Europe as well as others in Western Europe. Moscow is returning to the old Soviet Union style of Communism.
It's not surprising that Obama took a generic approach at first, and then over the following days slowly delivered more detailed and stronger opinions. That's a stark reminder of his inexperience and probable style. He knew before he could speak strongly on this subject he needed to do consultations with his larger number of foreign policy advisors, which takes time. And his past statements about this issue have been very lite on details also, and mainly just focused on "more talks".
No, I'm not a neocon war monger, which I'm sure is what many Obama supporters automatically assume. Yes, I don't support Barack. But to me this is a clear example of Barack's lack of experience particularly with foreign policy. And while I wouldn't vote for him in 4-8 years either, he would be at least better prepared as a President to handle these types of situations. As it stands now he would be in over his head.
