One more issue McCain needs to address with regard to Russia's weapons inventory and that is energy. Putin has used it as weapon before and if he continues to maintain control of the BTC pipeline, he will have strengthened his political and economic control over Europe and therefore NATO. Our only countermeasure is energy independence to the extent that we can help Europe. If the Democratic led congress maintains the present course, they will leave the next President with no alternatives in dealing with Putin other than to constantly give ground. McCain needs to have them shift their energy policy to one of independence instead of environmentalism or have them face the blame for the collapse of NATO.
Oh come on SDindependent. Who was the last Democratic President to bring anyone to their knees?
Oh wait, that would be Clinton.
Let me rephrase that. Who was the last Democratic President to bring a powerful nation to its knees?
I believe that would be Truman and Obama is definitely NOT Truman.
Clinton barely managed to whoop Haita - hardly a power house.
Carter could not even handle a rabbit, let alone that non-powerhouse Iran.
LBJ simply gave up with Vietnam.
JFK saw resistence in Cuba (Bay of Pigs) and ran almost as fast as Obama runs from wounded vets.
So it looks like Truman is the winner.
Obama has inspired no confidence yet that he could handle this situation. Quite the opposite. Putin is probably thinking the same thing about Obama that Krushchev thought of JFK. And we know where that led the world.
