What is the Reid/Pelosi team up to now? The Democrats on Capitol Hill are beginning to feel the pressure from the punished citizens over the cost of gasoline. The Republicans are demanding a straight up or down vote for more drilling for oil in other areas which scientists says there are more oil reserves. The Democrats are demanding to no oil drilling in promised oil reserves. Now, Speaker Pelosi says the Republicans are going to be forced to give her some of her items. It seems what Pelosi is trying to force Republicans to agree to her proposals to punish consumers of more taxes and more regulations. Republicans on Capitol Hill should not agree to more taxes and regulations. It seems that Democrats just do not understand that additional taxes and regulations are passed on to the consumers. American consumers do not need to be penalized any more by the Democrats on Capitol Hill. Why do the Democrats on Capitol Hill support the Arab Islam OPEC nations over our own American oil companies?

Politics is, the Law of the posssible. Millions of Consumers demanding "Drill here! Drill now! Pay less!, will cause Oil Corporate CEO's to lower prices! Anyone that doubts that must have an I.Q. of 30 something. Just look at what has already happened to oil prices. WHY? Politicians and Business Managers can no more violate the Law of Politics & the Law of Satisfice, than the Law of Gravity! Anyone interested should a "Heart Felt Prayer" to the nearest Oil Rig you can find!

"Democrats say it would take more than 10 years for increased drilling to have an impact at the pump, and that the extra supply would lower gas prices by only 2 cents per gallon." That is nonsense! Just the actions of President Bush, removing executive prohibitions to offshore drilling, have already caused a fifty cent drop in gasoline prices. The cost of fuel is controlled by the stock market, which is in turn controlled by what investors perceive is GOING TO happen. Besides, OPEC does not want us producing our own oil, so they will drop the price until we don't clamor for increased domestic production anymore. The environMENTAList socialists want prices to increase to the point that these alternative energies will be viable: particularly Nancy Pelosi's windmill investments (see MALKIN: Big wind Boone-doggle, Friday, August 15, 2008).

I would think it is quite obvious that the democrats would be blamed for a government shut down. The republicans are trying to help us, while the democrats in congress left for a 5-week summer break, and its leader went on a tour to tout an unsuccessful book about HERSELF! Folks the democrats are lying about the time line. As soon as the U.S. opens up areas for off-shore drilling, the price will come down dramatically. After all, we have more oil than the terrorist countries of the middle east who want to kill us. Yet, the democrats want to give these terrorists our hard-earned money. What is more sickening to me is that most of these democrats in the house and senate will probably vote themselves another raise so they can afford to pay for gas for their SUV's.

Progress. SDIndependent implicitly acknowledges that supply&demand work in the energy sector. Now if 800,000 barrels a day of less demand can lower prices perhaps we are able to infer that increasing production can lower prices too? But what has also lowered prices was Bush's stance. This we saw in real-time as the markets reacted to his dropping the executive order against off-shore drilling. No surprise to some that markets look to the future and react accordingly. As prices dropped $10 a barrel during his announcement and even more immediately following it, there was no new demand statistics. So what explanation can one offer for that drop in price? But what is really telling is that Democrats can predict the price of oil ten years out and to such a degree (2 cents drop in the price). Surely that means Democrats knew ten years ago that we would be paying $4 a gallon for gasoline this year. Yet they sat by and not only allowed this to happen but actively sought to make it so as they have consistently opposed any additional production that would alleviate the coming crisis. It's one thing to not see something like this coming but quite another to see it and do nothing at all. And talk about idiotic. Pelosi, Reid and Obama still oppose additional production even though Americans, many who are Democrats, cannot afford the fuel they need.

The collectivists just can't wait until they can raise gas prices to $10, or more a gallon. That will drive the stinking peasants out of their cars, their single family homes, and into tiny little cubicles in the slum cities of America. Of course, that is where these stinking peasants belong, not out in the suburbs which should be reserved for loyal party members and heroes of the state. In a properly run collectivist state, peasants need to be kept in their place. And that does NOT mean shoulder to shoulder with the ELITE. You DO understand that, don't you?

The American public is not fooled by Pelosi's blatant lies. This wicked witch of the west is arrogant, disgusting and is most probably corrupt as well considering how she stands to profit from high energy costs. She and that hack from Nevada Reid could care less about what the clear majority of the people are demanding. They owe their souls to greenies like SD independent below. I'm all for alternatives myself but they are in the future and/or yet to be developed. In the meantime, we need to take advantage of the resources we do have. I'd be willing to bet that OCS, ANWR and oil shale would equal the entire reserves of the middle east. We won't know until we go for it and anyone that is against it should be thrown out of office for sending $700 billion out of the country to folks who don't much like us. If the Russian aggression in Georgia, Chavez's escapades, etc. does not sway them, their continous blocking dramatically endangers the security of this country and borders on treason.

Pelosi cares nothing about this country; she cares only about power and calling the shots, regardless of what the country wants to do. She is a real disaster. People cannot rightfully believe anything Obama says. For example, Obama says he voted against the war. Lie!!!!He wasn't even in the Senate when this vote was taken. He is so full of bull. The only thing you can be sure of is that if he gets in, he will raise taxes and give even more of our hard-earned money to those who bleed the system already.
