ULLMAN: Ending the Russian blame game

In both Vietnam and Korea the x-factor was China. Our Presidents during those wars were unwilling to state the truth; to defeat the enemy (Communist North Korea and Communist North Vietnam) we must engage China since they were pouring thousand of troops and weapons across the border. The miscalculation the West makes is that through appeasement or not engaging the real enemy we can avoid war. This is false and we know it only leads us to great war. The actions of NATO and the US over the last week are only setting the stage for great war or great humiliation. If it is great humiliation then we will learn that Russia has invaded Eastern Europe and that NATO issued another stern warning. It is not honorable, righteous, or moral to save our lives while we condemn the lives of millions to slavery and torture as we did when we bargained away Eastern Europe to the Soviets, the Middle East to the Kings and Dictators, Latin America to the Generals, and SE Asia to the various communist movements.

Whether it is the old Soviet Union or the new Russia, Putin is moving to dismantle NATO. We don't exactly know his overall strategy, he has a significant number of tactics in motion but you can count on an energy dominance of Europe to counter U.S. primacy as being a major player. He has set the forces in motion that he has staged over the years. He has backdoored nuclear technology to Iran and provided detracting resolutions at the U.N. (We may have interrupted something in Iraq) He has provided huge confidence building weapons systems to Venezuela and Iran in hopes of threatening global oil supplies. He fundamentally has control of the BTC pipeline. He has observed the vulnerabilities of an energy dependent U.S. and a Congress bent on obstructing independence. All of the forces within the phase space are moving to a single point attractor, the isolation and deteriation of NATO and a Russo-European Security limit cycle.
