EXCERPT FROM MARK ZUCKERMAN'S WEEKLY LIVE CHAT

Question: Does the [front office] have any idea how betrayed many of us feel over the bumbling of the signings, including the revelation that they have a minuscule budget with which to implement the “Plan?” by SlowPitch63

Answer: Oh trust me, they know what the fan reaction has been to all of this. Which may explain why they've made such a point to divulge incredible detail about how the (Aaron) Crow negotiations went down in an attempt to get fans (and media) to place the blame on the Crow/Hendricks side. In all honesty, I think the organization has done a decent job in that regard. And the sense I get is that more fans believe Crow was to blame here than the Nationals.

BY THE NUMBERS

7 Starting shortstops the Nationals have used in the last 21 games (Cristian Guzman, Felipe Lopez, Alberto Gonzalez, Willie Harris, Ronnie Belliard, Pete Orr and Anderson Hernandez).

THURSDAY'S GAME

Nationals RHP Tim Redding Record, ERA: 8-8, 4.66

Phillies LHP Jamie Moyer Record, ERA: 11-7, 3.64

Time: 7:05 p.m. TV: MASN
