EXCERPT FROM MARK ZUCKERMAN‘S WEEKLY LIVE CHAT

Question: Does the [front office] have any idea how betrayed many of us feel over the bumbling of the signings, including the revelation that they have a minuscule budget with which to implement the “Plan?” by SlowPitch63

Answer: Oh trust me, they know what the fan reaction has been to all of this. Which may explain why they’ve made such a point to divulge incredible detail about how the (Aaron) Crow negotiations went down in an attempt to get fans (and media) to place the blame on the Crow/Hendricks side. In all honesty, I think the organization has done a decent job in that regard. And the sense I get is that more fans believe Crow was to blame here than the Nationals.

BY THE NUMBERS

7 Starting shortstops the Nationals have used in the last 21 games (Cristian Guzman, Felipe Lopez, Alberto Gonzalez, Willie Harris, Ronnie Belliard, Pete Orr and Anderson Hernandez).
