The only "authority" we need is that which comes from Congress and the President, which is something we already have. The U.N. can go to hell, they don't control this country.
I have been for letting the troops stay, at this point I believe Bush should announce his intention to remove the troops and start doing so.
The UN and Iraq have indicated they would like them to stay at least a while, but we should not unless there is a valid and legal document.
Since Bush is not being given any options to stay legally, the UN and Iraq become responsible if it fails, not the US
