Fighting intensifies in Sri Lanka

This IDP's will be resettled once the Sri Lankan Forces liberates the areas held by LTTE, the most ruthless terrorist outfit in the world.Same thing happened in the East.Now people in these areas live peacefully and International Community should help to rebuild East.

Banda -- Who you trying to fool? Tamil people in the East still lives in IDP camps. People of Sampoor have been barred from entering their villages and declared as High Security Zone. White van abduction, extra-judicial killing became day to day activity in East. People lives in fear and they cannot move freely. Is that your Srilankan government's meaning of liberation?

The figure of 70,000 quoted as from "both sides" is grossly misleading. This represents only the Tamils while Sinhala civilian casualties have been cited as 1700 over the past and underlines the magnitude of the mass murder by both sides, second only to Darfur, and no where near the figure of hundreds of casualties in Georgia where the roof has been broght down even in the UN Security Council! Obviously, not all humans are human and equal universally! In addition, under the Rajapakse regime, the phenomenon of abductions, torture and dissapearances or missing persons of targetted individuals numbering 1700 and includes many Tamil journalists,reporters, and well to do Tamils for high ransom and even a few Sinhala (naturally objective ) journalists have been reported within the past two years. Not a single prosecution. This has naturally earned the ire of the International Federation of Journalists(IFJ) all symptomatic of Banana Republics of the 60s,70s and 80s. An Argentinian General was tried and convicetd to life in prison in his old age only a few weeks ago reflecting catch up of natural justice. Will it ever catch up in the Democratic Socialist (Buddhist) Republic of Sri Lanka? Time will tell.

Banda Look at Northern Province(Jaffana as you may know it), which is under government control for many years now. Is there any economic investments? What we have there is High Security Zones not economic zones. It is an open prison. The International community (IC) is not interested in the plight of the Tamils. IC from time to time say that there should be a political solution and then arm the GOSL to teeth to genocide the tamils. The international community is a complicit in the genocide of Tamils

More than 200,000 ethnic Tamils were forcibly trapped by LTTE in past 20 years like Tamils were EAST Sri Lanka.these Tamils never seen out side the world.so called humanitarians organizations never wrote any articles that time.now it is time to free these 200,000 people.this is doing perfect by Sri Lanka Army humanitarian mission like done in East Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is for Sinhalese,Tamil's and Muslims not for particular Terrorist Group and Sri Lanka Army is included all these three nations.

Sri Lanka government is continuing its ethnic cleansing in the name fighting LTTE. Their weapon of choice is starvation. LTTE has been more then willing to negotiate a settlement for the conflict. Sri Lankan government will not, because they want to carry out their final solution for tamils.

Spoke fluent Sinhala and bit of Colombo Tamil, infact Colombo English with Tamil words thrown here and there.Used to riidicule tamils who visited from Jaffna. In fact I was living in bubble... ...Untill 1983 when I have to run to Jaffana for my life and take refuge in the house of the very Tamils whom I ridiculed. So live in your own bubble untill the day....

Marav007.You cannot convert East to a 100% normal situation overnight.Look at Colombo still your friends(LTTE)are blasting bombs.In that sense Colombo is also not liberated.But people in these areas live peacefully than the LTTE controlled period. Now even the kids can go to schools without fear.Can't you remember those days LTTE abducted kids and put them to the front to fight with SLF. Please come and visit East to see the difference.

Since the some of the Western countries likes of Germany stopped their funding due to increasing human rights violations in SL, the rouge Srilankan government turned its begging bowl to China,Pakistan and Iran, of them China is the biggest Srilankan donor so far this year with 100s of million dollar aid. The pakistani and Chinese arms chips reach Colombo port every other week while Iran is even willing to share its nuclear technology with Srilanka. Meantime India wanted to maintain its foot in SL for their geopolitical interests and current love affair of SL with its foes became real concern for India. To offset the current threats from its foes, India decided to arm Srilanka secretly to avoid the backlash from one of its states,Tamilnadu. The dependency for aid for SL on western countries shifted into its regional allies, and the hawkish Srilankan government wanted to cash in from these four willing partners to crush LTTE rebels at any cost ignoring the increasing human rights violations such as daily abduction, raping, and killing etc. What SL is doing now ethnic cleansing of Tamils with the support of regional allies. India lost its moral values long ago, I hope that Muslim fanatics will turn the table on these sneaky Indians soon, you already see some activities from Srinagar last week. When current unrest among global powers likes of NATO,EU and Russia are making headlines, the ethnic cleansing of Srilankan Tamils may not even appear on back page of any mainstream newspapers. bhairav- Do not mislead the readers.SL gov.is eleminating LTTE which is a ruthless terrorist out fit.If the SL gov. is doing ethnic cleansing of Tamils how come lot of Tamils live in Colombo.Of course there are problems when there bomb blasts in Colombo.If someone can innovate a machine to identify terrorists from ordinary Tamil people those problems also will not be there.But can Sinhalies live in North?

RajasH. lots of well educated Thamils were in Colombo when the 1983 July riots (LTTE Planned).all of them protected by Sinhalese.they didnt have money flee away and LTTE didnt offer them money to flee away cuz they protected by Sinhalese.and they didnt support LTTE cuz No Place for Educated Thamils in LTTE.

It's seems every one is making assumption about the out come of the war in Srilanka. One thing I can clearly say is that they all have written and said the same thing about the LTTE and specially about our Leader back when the Indians came and also when Jaffna was lost. But every one knows what happend after that. About the current situation we have to notice there is not a single attcked on the armed forces or in capital colombo or any kind of suicide attak towads the armed forces even at this stage of the war. The world order today is diffrent than 20 years ago and being a great leader he has to think very carfully about every step he takes to get our goal. He has some of the most powerful conties in the world against him working with the Srilankan State.He has to work against the traitors,the indian goverment, pakistani goverment,cinese goverment and finally the united states the country we live in. All these countries give the Srilankan goverment the materilas support, training, intelligent and so on. So Our leader has to think very carefully how to counter attck overcome this massive attck on the tamils with limited resources. Wev know how he thinks and execute attack. So please wait and see. To all the reporters and news medias do not go to any conclusion about LTTE and our Leader. If you really need to learn about a great leader who is not corrupeted who is didicated for the freedom of his people then you do more research on him. Just go back in history for last 20 years then you will undestand.

Why is the Sri Lankan army almost 100% Sinhalese when the are only 73% of the population? Kind of like the armed forces of Iraq were mostly Sunni under Saddam and he massacred the Kurds and Shias?

srilankasouthtamil I did not mention LTTE once in my postings.I did not refute the sinhala friends gave safe heaven to Tamils in 1983. The entire world knows that the 1983 ethnic violence against the tamils was organised by the government of the day. Get your facts right. hmmmm educated Tamil?
