I think the best model for the repeal of Roe v. Wade is the path taken under President Lincoln's administration. The Dred Scott decision was automatically repealed, when the 13th Amendment recognized blacks as citizens. A Congressional amendment recognizing pre-born humans as legal persons, protected from homicide, would have the same effect.

Abortion is a medieval form of birth control. A civilized society would not support abortion. The question of civil rights for a fetus should be obvious. A fetus is a human being who has not yet left the womb. That is why many cultures count the gestation period when figuring age. The use of the pill and condoms is called birth control.

In actuality abortion is a minor issue to overwhelming majority of people and it's importance insignificant. Comparing it to the deaths inflicted by nazism and communism is an easily disprovable statement. In fact the almost total lack of impact upon our societies by abortion is prima facia evidence of its insignificance. To call it murder may be self satisfying to the lunatic fringe who believe it is some form of genocide or a holocaust but since murder is a legal term and it clearly isn't illegal it has no place in a civil discussion. One must actually profer proof that abortion is eating away at the moral and political fabric of our society. A statement that it is does not constitute proof, mearly demogogary. The simple fact that the productivity, creativity and vibrancy of our culture is thriving is powerful proof that abortion has had no impact on our society. Unlike nazism or communism which destroyed the creativity and productivity of their societies. That fanatics see gay rights, transgender people or condoms as threat to our society is more of a testament to their own fears then any actual impact on our society. Mr. Kuhner cites abortion as causing a sea of misery. Then to support this argument cites how it has lead to the murder of millions of fetus'. To even the simple minded this would be obvious as a circular argument. As to the sexual revolution as causing the death of millions through AIDS is also false. AIDS has killed millions in Africa but has nothing to do with the sexual practices in America. Blaming the sexual revolution for the divorce rate is probably misplaced. It is almost certainly a product of changing economics from one income families to two. Mr. Kuhner and websurfer do hit two nails on the head. Abortion is a form of birth control. Abortion is about controlling sexual behavior within our society. It is obvious from the article Mr. Kuhner is obsessed by the sexual behavior of other people and blames it for almost every evil in the country. That this is absurd is self evident to any reasonble person. That Mr. Kuhner is not reasonable is also self evident. True conservatives are not interested in controlling peoples behavior. We want people to have control over their own lives and to take responsability for their own lives. This argument has nothing to do with that. This is about control over other people and their behavior and has no place in true conservatism.
