Right To Lifers want to do anything for that fetus, but they want the slutty mother to rot in hell (and pretty soon). If they are serious, they will devise a plan that supports the mother during pregnancy and 20 years of child rearing with education and jobs for both child and mother. And for those mothers that do not want the responsibility, these same people need to provide a guaranteed adoption for the child. Today the worst tragedy in America is an unwed mother with an unwanted child. Two lives are always destroyed and sometimes many more.

Abortion - It's all about the avoidance of accountability that begins with the Left's belief in minorities as incapable. Obama's comment "I don't want my daughters punished with a baby" sums up the Dems view of young black americans. dabrack does a good job of illustrating this point. These "slutty mothers" aren't capable of the behaviors necessary to prevent becoming pregnant so all us Right to Lifers become responsible, for everything. Conservatives believe in the capability of them selfs and others. When I see you as capable, nothing more is required from me. It's only when I see you as incapable that I feel the need to do something for you. Can you start to see where all the policies of the left come from? Abortion? Affirmative action? Bilingual education? Redistribution of wealth? The list goes on and on.

The left is the true home of racism, the reason they think everyone else is racist is simple, they know they are and since they think they are the good guys the rest of us (the bad guys) have to be worse racists then them.

What an offensive and ill-informed editorial. The high rate of abortion among black women is primary due to socioeconomic status: black women are more likely than white women to be poor and uneducated. And poor, uneducated women are more likely than wealthier, educated ones to have unintended pregnancies. Once you take these factors into account, the difference in the abortion rate between white and black women shrinks dramatically. Similarly, most Planned Parenthood clinics are in poor neighborhoods, because wealthier women can afford private doctors. So again, the issue mostly an economic one, not a racial one. It is mind-boggling that the Times editorial writer didn't consider these issues before accusing Planned Parenthood of eugenics.

yeah_right

To Matt1969-socioeconomic status is bull. Maybe you're too uneducated to know that there are more whites on welfare than any other race. Most people who receive welfare are women and usually those deemed of lower income. So that makes a huge number of white women to be poor. Also if someone is not poor but of middle income or higher, that doesn't mean they can afford a private doctor. Also, your statement about black women being less educated that white women means they are more likely to have unintended pregnancies is not true. And it's definitely not true in my neighborhood. Honestly, the difference may be the way intercourse is done by the races. In my neighborhood the white teen females have oral and anal sex with many people and races, but very little vaginal sex. That's something that most black teens females don't do. In fact the white girls are called nasty and made fun of for doing that at all. Black teen girls might try those when they get older, but anal once tried, usually is not continued. Therefore, black females just have more vaginal sex which can lead to unintended pregnancies with or without protection. I could be more graphic, being a black educated female accountant from the inner city, but the toss up between regular sex or having someone say "Eeuw, what the heck is that gross looking thing on your lip!" I’ll choose vaginal and take my chances that way.

To Yeah Right: Yes, there are more whites on welfare than there are blacks, but that's because whites outnumber blacks by about 6 or 7 to one. Overall, the average black is far more likely than the average white to receive welfare. And yes, blacks are, on average, less educated that whites: according to a 2003 study, the high school graduation rate was 72% for whites and 51% for blacks. (I'm sure that more up-to-date statistics are available, but I doubt the difference has narrowed by a huge amount, if at all.) Of course, things may be different in your neighborhood, but on a national level, there are clearly important socioeconomic differences by race, and those differences are relevant to unintended pregnancy and abortion. I'll be happy to dig up some specific studies if you like. Now, there may well be racial differences in sexual behavior -- that's not something I've seen statistics on -- but if you're correct, that certainly supports my general argument that the high abortion rate among blacks primarily reflects the high rate of unintended pregnancy among blacks, rather than some sort of conspiracy to abort black babies.

Not “eugenics”; it’s racial cleansing. We need to find a human being capable of making an exact copy of himself or herself before we should accept “reproductive health” and other such misleading “reproductive” terminology in any debate concerning life and abortion. The truth is that man and woman participate with God in a procreative process which yields a baby, a unique human being with unique DNA. Not a reproduction. Not a clone. But, the most precious gift that could ever be given to man and woman. And, it begins at conception. I have noticed the dodging and distorted responses of Democrat candidate Obama to important questions, such as the point in time that human rights would apply to our young. It, he claimed, was the insufficiency of his pay that kept him from giving his view on the humanity of our young. Yet, he has pledged to send the scalpels flying at them, removing all state restraints. Margaret Sanger can take much credit for this genocide, but the abomination that Obama has in mind will bring forth the most profound savagery. It must be prevented.
