I agree with the Bishop and I wish other Bishops would do the same for Nancy Pelosi. I heard her on Meet the Press this past Sunday and was appalled when she said that the Church doesn't even know when life begins.

It was fitting, but also necessary, for Archbishop Chaput in his leadership role to show the glaring incongruity of being both a Catholic and a pro-abortion public persona; after all, the Democratic party is trying to woo the Catholic vote. Catholic teaching is very clear about the sanctity of life. During his last visit to the US the Pope brought up the inconsistency of receiving Holy Communion by pro-abortion Catholics with the Catholic faith. Would that Catholics in this country make an effort to read the speeches of the Holy Father when he visited us in April. If they take to heart what the leader of the Catholic Church says, there would be no equivocation on this issue.

Let's make it clear also that Biden is for homosexual unions, and against a marriage amendment defined between a man and a woman. That should also give Catholics pause in endorsing a candidate that further weakens biblical and historical values.

The Obama camp made such a big deal in presenting Biden as a Catholic. I, for one, heaved a sigh of relief that maybe, Obama is beginning to change position on abortion because he got a lot of beating for that. So, I was furious when I found out today that he is also pro-choice. Well, just like Obama, he is willing to trade in his moral values for that spot. McCain is not Catholic but he also values human life.

Way to go Archbishop Chaput! Sorry the DNC didn't invite you to their convention. Hopefully we're going to get to hear from one of their favorites ... Father Phfleger.

Here are some medical facts about "when life begins", in reverse chronological order: 1. At birth, the baby takes its first breath of air. 2. Week 17, the baby can have dream (REM) sleep 3. Week 14, the heart pumps several quarts of blood each day 4. Week 11, the baby can "breathe" its own amniotic fluid and urinate 5. Week 6, the baby's brain waves are detectable 6. Day 22, the baby's heart begins to beat with its own blood 7. Day 1, all human chromosomes are present, the baby has its own unique DNA code (see http://www.nrlc.org/abortion/facts/fetaldevelopment.html for more information) If I could find these facts in 10 minutes by using Google, it makes me wonder if Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy -- and all the other Democrats who support infanticide -- maybe don't know how to use Google. The truth is, that they really don't care about human life as much as they care about their own political power and success. How can such people be trusted to lead a nation?

Here are some Spiritual facts about "when life begins": Jeremiah 1:5 - Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart... Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Psalm 139:16 - Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be. Genesis 1:27 - So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female, He created them. Abortion is Satan's way to come against the image of God. Those who support abortion - and the politicians who keep it alive - share in Satan's work. Woe to them.

It seems that Senator Obama is described as having one of the most extreme positions that one can find when it comes to the issue of abortion….Normally, I can understand a lawyer’s dancing on the head of a pin for the sake of not wanting to undermine a future legal argument or position. However, regarding Senator Obama, some other details give me pause and raise questions about whether his stated motivation(s) can be trusted. I have to agree with the previous comment concerning Nancy Pelosi's performance on Meet the Press. To come out and tell a bold faced lie on National TV when she stated that the Catholic church only recently came out against abortion and that even the church isn't sure when life begins is incredible. I only wish Tim Russert were still alive, because there is no way he'd allow her to get away with that complete fabrication. Pro-abortion supporters always state that they want abortions "legal and rare". Why rare? If indeed a human fetus is NOT a life but merely tissue as they claim, they why would the procedure need to be "rare"? To them, it should be no different than clipping toe nails. The fact is, they know deep in their souls that a fetus is a human life waiting to be born. They merely don't care enough about that very human life to do the right thing. It's not our position to judge them, however. That is "above our paygrade". It IS our responsibility to oppose the abortionists, and to do everything in our power to legally opopse the slaughter of innocents.

Faith voters are moving away from Republicans because of issues like poverty? What they heck does that mean? The way to end poverty is by improving the economy and providing the poor with jobs and opportunity, not by giving them hand outs as the Democrats use as a political ploy.

Biden personally represents so many personal/moral contradictions he'll implode under the populace-inspired scrutiny.

Several years ago a catholic priest in the Diocese of Arlington, a Father Clark, refused to let Senator Biden become a godfather at a baptism because of his pro-abortion stance. The Diocese eventually caved in and replaced the priest, but this article shows the Senator's abortion position continues to be sore spot with Catholics. Possibly with the spotlight now focused on the Senator, he correct this moral contradiction with his faith.
