I wish Congressman Hoyer can tell me what policies of the President he was relating too..Iraq? Is he aware that he got rid of one of the worst villians that roamed the earth besides Hitler,Mussoline, the Gestapo in Nazi Germany and many others..Is Congressman Hoyer aware also that we are winning the war in Iraq? God Bless America

This is for Mr. Hoyer and anybody else who thinks John McCain is John McSame, which he most certainly is not. McCain voted against Bush's Energy Policy Act of 2005 saying "the handouts to big business and oil companies are irresponsible" (Obama voted FOR it); McCain voted against Bush's tax cuts TWICE and now that the Congress has passed them he refuses to rescind them saying that that is a "tax increase" (which is correct); McCain pushed the idea of the "surge" (which has since been a success) which ran contrary to, and was critical of, Bush's policy in Iraq; McCain opposed Bush on torture, especially of water-boarding,which he strongly opposes; McCain wants to close down Gitmo, contrary to Bush; McCain was critical of Bush's statements after 9-11 on shopping; McCain was critical of Don Rumsfeld; Critical of Bush's response to Katrina; McCain has opposed Bush's environmental policies for many years, with differences that are "significant, deep, and strong"; In one of the most important areas, McCain has passionately differed with the president on spending. pork, and government waste. This is one of McCain's strongest areas where he is a Maverick; I could go on and on, but please cut the "McBush" crap.

The two main things most people don't like about Bush are...the war on the liberal side and overspending on the conservative side. As the election gets closer there aren't that many dissimilarities between Bush and the candidates on the war. People forget how it started just like they forget how the Vietnam War started with Kennedy and Johnson. Poeple just don't like the cost of the war. They wouldn't like the cost even more if Bush had sat on his hands. How many 9/11s does it take? Out of the two, McCain has a much better record at holding the line on spending than any Democrat. Hoyer's rhetoric is baseless.

This is just the Democrats still trying to link all of McCain's policies to Bush's through the Iraq war. What Hoyer needs to explain is what will change? The Democrats complain about lobbyists dominating Washington politics and good ole Joe Biden the VP choice is right in there with the lobbyists. The only change that has come to Washington is the changing of the lobbyist guard from corporations and business to lawyers, environmentalists and organized labor. Hoyer needs to change his rhetoric.

George Bush ran a smear campaign in 2000 against McCain, targeting his black adopted daughter Bridget from Bangladesh. For someone who fought the GOP on many issues in the past, 2000 was the year that marked his loss of faith in the Republican party. He had serious discussions about being John Kerry's running mate, and about switching parties. Since then he decided to bite the bullet, and support George Bush 95% of the time, flip-flopping on several issues. He knew it was the only way he'd get the Republican nomination. He can't wait to get into office so that show us how he really feels, push forward his Democratic views, and have the last laugh.

Obama is "O'Same"---same old-style, backroom sleezy politics, more insider-type, left-wing, big government, a la Hair-Plug Biden. McCain is the candidate for CHANGE. Change in our war strategy (Victory for a change), Change in our economy (energy independence for a change),Change in Washington politics (bi-partisanship and getting things done), more Change on the Supreme Court (Constitutionalist judges),change in our budget (slash spending for a change, cut-out earmarks and pork for a change), Change in political money (Change in lobbying to get out the corruption, more Change in campaign finance), etc. etc.etc. McCain is the candidate for change---in fact, call him McChange if you want. B.O. is O'Same.

To Pedamon: Wow - look what happens when sound-bites replace logic.. Change in our war strategy: You really need to explain that one. Iraq wants us out and McCain wants to stay. Change means we leave Iraq-the same means we stay and continue dying. Unless by new war strategy you mean draft....? Oh, and don't forget his own quote "no one has supported George Bush more in this war than I have". (reminder - GW has been running the war since it began, so to support him I guess would mean that you wouldn't want to CHANGE his strategery, or geez, maybe I just don't know what the difference is between "change" and "the same"...) Change in Economy: please explain how "drill here, drill now" will lower gas prices, raise median incomes, prevent foreclosures and prevent financial ruin due to illness...?? We will NEVER be energy independent when it comes to oil - NEVER. We don't have enough no matter how much you drill, so if you are in favor of energy independence then you better start voting for leaders that support alternative forms of energy. If you don't, then you're either uninformed or a hypocrite. Change in politics: Bi-partisan?? Are you kidding? McCain has voted with Bush 77%(at the lowest)to 95% to a whopping 100%(this year) of the time; please explain how that demonstrates bi-partisanship??? (more) Change in the SCOTUS: I love this one - MORE change MEANS continuing the status quo!!! Holy cow, from the looks of your post I think I'd need all afternoon to help you understand your own statements... but I tread on.... Change in our budget: the only change we would see is higher numbers in the red column. No matter how much in pork that McCain would supposedly cut out, it pales in comparison to the amount he would continue to throw away in Iraq, Afghanistan and maybe now even Russia in Cold War Part 2, and the (additional) rich-butt-kissing tax breaks he plans on. 4 MORE YEARS OF ASTRONOMICAL DEFICITS!!!! YEAH!!! Change in political money: no, really, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?? Do you remember just a couple of months ago when the cover was blown on the vast number on lobbyists on McCain's campaign?? McCain had to get rid of over 160 staff members who had lobbyist ties. In addition to loads of evidence available that he has always been very helpful to the telecom/cable industries, certain foreign countries, because of his lobbying ties, do you forget that he WAS ONE OF THE KEATING FIVE???? For crying out loud - he was in the bullseye center of one of the most corrupt rackets in congressional history. Oh, but I guess he said he was sorry... Good lord, Pendamon - if you have the time to write comments to articles, then you should have the time to actually think about what you're writing; you don't even have to do a lot of research! Don't waste yours and everyone's time if you're just to going spew meaningless, irrational sound bites that you hear on the radio.

The Democratic platform is way off to the left. So much so ,that anyone with a niclels worth of common sense would run like hell.

Lagitane - Thank you for taking the time to respond, but I guarantee Pendamon will come back with something doubly baseless, doubly annoying, and doubly provoking. Just like Bush, he is as set as a rock on his views, with complete disregard for how wrong they are.
