Since I learned of Mr. Newman's death, I have been thinking of how much he personified "class". I don't even know if he was a Republican or Democrat and I don't need to know. He left the world a much better place than he found it and did so without finding it necessary to criticize others or preach political or religious doctrine. He was an extraordinary human being and his legacy lives on.
