Let's see; Repeatedly voted against the Brady Bill , opposed extending the 1994 ban on assault weapons, voted against including the assault weapons ban in the 1994 Crime Bill, all positions Mr. Obama supported. Yup, Sen. McCain gets my vote.

A vote for Barack Obama is simply a vote for affirmative action. When asked what accomplishment of Obama's stood out to voters during the primaries, NONE of those interviewed could come up with a single reason---except that he was black. His greatest accomplish- ment is that he is black, according to his supporters and, it seems, in this article. Is that enough, is what I am wondering? Enough to eliminate McCain, and his accomplishments, as a competitor? Do we simply make a gift of the presidency to this man?

I hope people see beyond the smokescreen, especially the young people that this man, and the people behind him, will screw this country up so bad I don't think we'll ever recover. Think through the outcomes of his stands, policy and votes. How many freedoms will be sacrificed. How many lives will be lost. I shudder to think what we will look like in 2012 if he takes office.

Voting present is ambiguous and indecisive and is definitely not leadership. Using this as an out for political reasons, is pandering to uncertainty. As a policy, it would be a return to the Black Hawk Down days of the Clinton Administration foreign policy which constantly pursued legal excuses for not acting and a contingency if things go wrong to spread the blame. It abrogates responsibility. This type of waiting for consensus leadership would place U.S. interests in the hands of the international community because we wouldn't know what our interests were. We have seen the results in Mogadishu, nothing was done for the Khobar Towers bombing, the Embassy bombings or the USS Cole bombings. That is how much you can rely on the international community. The U.S. President will have to lead, not just be present.

Regarding the Abortion Issue, Sen. Obama dances around on a pinhead to hide his beliefs. However, regarding Senator Obama, some other details give me pause and raise questions about whether his stated motivation(s) can be trusted. With eight years of conservative government, hopefully at least four years of liberal government will undo some of the damage.

@rancraw: of course! just like electing jimmy carter fixed everything back in '76! get a clue, dude... @SD independent: you're deluded if you think that obama and biden are the answer to the questions we face now.

If you think we need a change to address all the challenges America faces, it's not coming from Obama. O'same picked a dirty old, corrupt Washington insider for his running mate---Hair Plug Joe Biden. That's change? Get a good look at old Joe and you will see what we will get with an O'Same presidency. Backroom deals, entrenched partisanship in Congress, gridlock, extreme left-wing policies that go nowhere, bigger taxes, more earmarks and pork, corruption, and more failed government, businesses racing to get offshore, unions taking away our rights, America weak and passive to our enemies, more abortions than ever, etc. If you think we have problems now, just wait until O'Same gets in there. We will turn left and go straight off the cliff. O'Same is in love with himself, but hates America!

Of the ten comments below me, there are eight who are anti-Obama, and they all make excellent points. Unbeatable odds -- 8 to 2 -- and easily winnable in November. The odds are going even higher because it is becoming clearer by the day that Obama supporters are in a state of delusion and will have to be sent to an asylum for a substantial stay.

Obama and his friend Willaim Ayres make for strange bed fellows. Mr. Ayres has attended social functions where Barry has been in attendance. He could have left. Instead Mayor Daley, et. al have complimented this terrorist as being a good member of the Chicago educational community ! Mr. Ayres has blood on his hands and Mr. Hussein Obama should have distanced himself from him and that hatefull minister from his church. I wonder if Mr. Ayres will be Obamas first guest when he rents out the Lincoln bedroom after his first 100 days in office?
