Again, how are we going to get off of our dependence on foreign oil when we have a president who treats immigration and citizenship as Hispanic entitlement programs? Surely the general appreciates the concept of a moving target.

Depending on foreign countries for our main source of energy is indeed a huge security risk. Our energy issues need addressed from every angle. Look at the damage the price of oil did to our economy and society this past year. They have the power over us to destroy us economically. Jeff Wilson has a wonderful new book out called The Manhattan Project of 2009 Energy Independence NOW. He addresses this very issue of national security along with all other imaginable energy issue in this book. You will understand the uses for oil besides gasoline , our depletion of this finite source and every alternative source of energy and how it can be used to replace our dependence on foreign fossil fuel. This book even outlines legislative agenda's necessary to promote our energy independence. This is the best book out there and so right on for this time in our history. I found it fascinating that it would cost the equivalent of 60 cents per gallon to charge the battery on an electric car. The electricity could be generated by wind or solar sources. WE have a lot available to us in the way of free energy with wind and solar. WE need to sink some of this bailout money into making these things a reality and making our country energy independent. This book should be a must read for every member of congress and our new cabinet.

I think it's good that Obama is picking someone who isn't popular but well respected and well traveled on the issues. I feared he would go with the popular illuminati and put Al Gore in there. Thank God he didn't do that.

General Jones was chosen because he was Supreme Allied Commander, Europe (SACEUR). Obama is building his "multipolar" region with ties to Europe. Jones has not internalized the link between energy and security any more than any other "flag" officer. None of them have provided a transition plan while we shift to "green" technology. Our energy dependence makes us vulnerable NOW, not 10 years from now. Global warming is a state of fear tactic to make cap and trade a politically correct tax and fund the transition transition to global governance. If Habibullo Abdussamatov is correct, we are in for a cold snap because of a reduction solar activity, NOT anthropogenic carbon emissions, we are faced with a huge irony of planning for warming while freezing and starving.
