Great story! Could you please post the longer print version with more quotes from Dr. Spalding? Thanks.
Liberal activist judges, liberal activist environmental groups, liberal activist political groups, now liberal activist architects.
Hilarious! The 1930s/1950s era "national motto" and "pledge of allegiance" have zero to do with the constitution. Yawn.
Also - that edit is easily better than one frequent edit of the constitution by the gun-toting crazies: "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" They always leave out the part about a "well-regulated militia" being the reason for this right. And what doesn't say "well-regulated" like some sensible gun control?
Selective journalism at its finest!
The 2nd amendment, as to guns, is and was meant to be the right of the people. A well-regulated militia, was at the time all males from 15 to 65 years old., so that pretty much means the vast most of us. So let's not edit too much out, The right to free speech is part of the amendment too, you want to edit it also?
My guns are my, my Creator gave me my rights, my government is there to insure I get to keep them, not have them give me any rights.
Er... I didn't actually suggest editing anything. Just saying that the edit described in the article was pretty tame when compared with the frequent edit of the 2nd amendment, which is far more dangerous.
I think every person who is part of the well-regulated militia should be permitted to own guns. You are right. In 1780, that well-regulated militia was all males 15 to 65. So why wouldn't the founding fathers just leave it like they did with the freedom of speech?
So like you said, let's not edit too much out. It's 2008 and I fail to see how owning thirteen semi-automatic handguns, or shooting yourself in the thigh at a hip hop club is part of a well-regulated militia.
.
Would it have been that much more difficult to include ALL the words?
We are talking about one of the greatest documents in human history.
So many sacrifices to preserve, protect, and defend it, ...dishonored.
