I think this is interesting but the real stat is that most of these people who pray don't even have a real grounded faith. EVERYBODY prays when they get in trouble or when times get hard, that is how we good American's use the art of prayer. And then there are the politicians. You see, the illuminati just pray and use religion to win campaigns. The percent of people who actually have a deep rooted faith that effects their lives i bet is WAY lower. Probably 10% or less. that's my guess.
Wonder how many would feel if something they did not believe in was exhibited this way? This is so silly and self serving.
Why shouldn't one pray? If you have a heavenly Father who sent his Son into the world (Christmas), carried out his eternal plan for his death, burial, and resurrection (Easter) and he ascended to return for his church (YOU) some day, wouldn't you "pray without ceasing" as Paul admonishes? We "have not because we ask not, we receive not because we ask amiss, and we ask to consume it on our own lusts" - the unsaved need to ask to "believe in their hearts that God hath raised him from the dead and that he died for them and they shall be saved!" Those saved need to talk with him - don't you talk to your children? God talks to us in His Word and through His Holy Spirit - ask any Christian. Dave.
Dave,
The ancient babylonians in the BCS worshipped a main god Baal who sent his son Tammus to earth to save mankind and for rebirth. This fell at the winter solstace. It was celebrated with decorated trees, gift giving. In the 4th century christians picked this date to celebrate christ as it woould diminish the pagan holiday and people were already geared for a celebration then.
Most of the chritian traditions and celebrations are based on pagan or jewish traditions. Do people ever read or question the stuff they are fed as kids? I wonder.
