This is interesting news. I'm not one to break Reagan's 11th Commandment, but if you need to appoint a general chairman to serve as the "face of the party," then you have some problems. The position is RNC Chair, not RNC "man behind the scenes." I think there are some great candidates out there that wouldn't need a general chairman to serve as the face of the party. In particular I'm thinking of Ken Blackwell, he's been all over television recently (on Fox News, CNN and even Olberman) and has shown himself to be a good public speaker. He has a great personal story (college football player that has been been married his college sweetheart for more than 30 years). Further, he has experience not only running campaigns and winning them, but also bringing conservative ideals to the federal government when he was under Jack Kemp. I fact, I can't think of a reason Blackwell would not be a great choice for RNC Chair. GO Ken!
