Seen and heard at Verizon Center

A day after the Wizards acquired them via a three-team trade, point guards Mike James and Javaris Crittenton were in uniform against the Boston Celtics, though they didn’t have the best possible preparation time.

Because they had to wait for Antonio Daniels, whom the Wizards traded to New Orleans for James, to clear his physical, James and Crittenton could only watch during the Wizards’ walkthrough Thursday morning.

Crittenton and James didn’t find out until roughly 75 minutes before game time that the trade had gone through.

“It’s going to be just playing off the game, just playing off of your experience now, not really knowing the plays,” James said. “Knowing we had similar ways in New Orleans, but everybody has different quirks and things, so we’ll just take it from there.”

James, a seventh-year veteran, didn’t play in nine of New Orleans’ last 10 games before the deal. But he expects to make significant contributions in the District.

“The saying is ‘One person’s trash is another person’s treasure,’ ” James said. “[Being traded] doesn’t mean that anything is wrong with my game. I just hope I can be a treasure in D.C.”

Crittenton also was relatively unused in Memphis, so he was overjoyed when he heard of the trade.

“I’m very, very excited to be a part of this organization, and I’m just happy Ernie pulled the trigger on this trade.” Crittenton said. “I feel very blessed to be somewhere where they want me. It seems like the organization about this trade, and I feel very appreciated already.”

Soon after arriving in the District, Crittenton got a blue-and-white pair of Gilbert Arenas’ signature shoes, presented to him by Agent Zero himself.

James got in the game at the start of the second quarter and also played a stint late in the third quarter. Crittenton was scoreless in just six minutes of play.
