I would assume we will use the same measure of effectiveness on this "outreach" post, i.e. stopping Iran from developing nuclear weapons? I saw nothing of the "trust and verify" that is required or will it just be a trust policy? Also, are there any consequences if Iran only talks but develops a nuclear bomb and the missile delivery systems for it or do we just accept the fact and blame it Bush?

A word of caution to the upcoming new U.S. administration: Beware of mullahs bearing gifts! The mullahs are diehard adherents of the Islamists' eleventh commandment "Thou shall not lie or dissimilate (tagyyeh), deceive or cheat (ketman) unless they serve a higher purpose." And to these devoted faithful, there is no higher purpose in the world than serving Allah's bidding, as they like it and as they interpret it. The President-elect must learn from Jimmy Carter’s miscalculation on Iran. And former Carter Security Advisor, Zbigniew Brzezinski, is wrong for avidly propagating negotiation with the Islamists in Iran, instead of its rightful owners, the Iranian people. It would also be wise not to waste the taxpayers’ money in the spirit of good will to meet with bloodthirsty Mullahs and their ilk. On the other hand, the Iranian people are asking the world to file legal charges against the leaders of the Islamic Republic for wanton violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The charges would be for their crimes against humanity and genocidal actions against religious and political groups, for support of international terrorism, for demolition of religious sites and cemeteries, for rape, torture, and summary executions of prisoners of conscience, for forgery of documents, for acts of blackmail and fraud, and for much more. My advice to the President-elect and the people of my adopted country is: go ahead and make merry, enjoy the gift of life, but don’t let down your guard and make sure that no one lulls you into the deadly trap of complacency. Yes, if the mullahs get the bomb, they will make use of it in numerous ways. They will use it for blackmail, they will use it in small packages through untraceable proxies, and they might even launch it by their missiles in a homicide-suicide fashion which is their trademark. After all it is the mullahs’ deeply-held belief that their cataclysmic act will expedite the coming of the Saheb-ul-Zaman (the Lord of the Age), whence he would set the world on the righteous course while those who have hastened his coming will be immersed eternally in the joys of pleasure in Allah’s promised paradise. While I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, let us pledge for a peaceful world by engaging, supporting and negotiating directly with the Iranian people or their legitimate representatives, not their current enemies, the Mullahs, quisling-like lobbyists and their mercenaries in the United States or elsewhere. The U.S. has, in secular Iranians, its best friends in the entire Islamic world. It is imperative for the U.S. to help these Iranians to dislodge the vicious doomsday Mullahs, not as an act of altruism, but as a prudent measure of enlightened self-interest. http://www.amilimani.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=125&Itemid=2

. Thank you for your words of caution, Amil. Let us hope our leaders will hear and heed such advice, whether from you or from many others with the same message and first-hand experience. . Gotta love this. Finally -- Community Organizers for Terrorism. Maybe they can get Fannie and Freddie to loan Tehran the money to complete the bomb. Then the Outreach person can schedule a trip to Tel Aviv's nuke crater in 2009.

Outreach Post: The concept of an outreach post has great value. The issues are simple. One main source of energy is nuclear power generation. The efforts to monopolize nuclear fuel production started in 1978, when the Nuclear Suppliers Group tried to impose restrictions on the right of developing countries to enrich their own uranium, a right. Since Article IV of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty ensures access to peaceful uses of nuclear technology for non-nuclear weapon states, the technology for uranium enrichment must be permitted to all states under the current nonproliferation regime. Countries like Iran therefore, are permitted to develop their own enrichment technology for peaceful nuclear energy production. Iran has argued for an international nuclear fuel consortium to operate Iranian nuclear enrichment. Iranians assert that this international cooperative arrangement and IAEA oversight together will eliminate USA fear that Iran is attempting to use the technology to develop nuclear weapon. The Global Nuclear Energy Partnership (GNEP) is a USA initiative that offers an international control over production of nuclear fuel and disposal of the associated nuclear wastes. GNEP-initiative monopolizes nuclear fuel production and waste management infrastructure. Global Nuclear Power Infrastructure (GNPI) is a Russian initiative. Russia will retain exclusive control of all sensitive enrichment technology. All these initiatives, both GNEP and GNPI have one thing in common, monopolizing production of nuclear fuel. Any nation who would have nuclear reactor but can not control the supplier of nuclear fuel is not an independent nation. The case of Iran and Russia as supplier of the fuel demonstrates my argument. The Iranian problem for receiving from Russia fuel for Bushehr - Iran Nuclear Reactor was greatly co-opted by the United States forcing Iran to initiate her own fuel production. Israel has expressed concerns about the possible sale to Tehran of S-300s, sophisticated anti-aircraft missiles that could be used to foil airstrikes against Iranian nuclear sites. We have provided Israel with long nuclear capable aircrafts in addition to assistance in developing nuclear bomb. Should Iran be capable to protect herself from Israeli’s airstrikes? The S-300 is a self-defense missile. As long as Israel would not attack Iran, then there should not be any need for Iran to use it. The international community must provide a protective shield to all nations in the region including Iran.

Diplomats get paid to buddy up with each other, but this usually leads to war or outright antagonism. This is a long list, e.g. Hitler & Chamberlin. Or look at our present futile exercise with North Korea. I suspect that Tehran has Persia on it's mind, i.e. the dominant power in the middle east. Toward this end they will do and say what is needed.

Those crazy Iranians, they were just kidding w/ their "Death to American" rally's, supplying roadside bombs for Iraq, sending terrorists and militia into Iraq to cause hijinx..it's all a big misunderstanding. Right?

Jimmy Carter thought he could "play nice" with the Iranians too. Look what it got him(us). Father always said, don't play with rattle snakes!!

Has anyone ever heard the saying "Walk softly and carry a big stick." There is nothing wrong with the new president walking softly. The pivotal question is whethter we will carry the big stick. With announcements coming out that he may scrap the F-22, the F-35 and missle defense, he is beginning to look more and more like the nincompoop from Plains, GA.

Dear Hammas, N. Korea, Chavez, Somalli Pirates, Al Qaeda, the New York Times, and Senator Feingold, We have finally got some sensible leadership in the White House! In order to make them listen to your demands, simply kill a few Jews and Americans. If this doesn't work, try killing some more. Once they start negotiating with you, keep on killing and they'll keep on trying to apease you. Sincerely, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

The REALLY important thing is that Slick Hilly will be able to get out of any responsibility when our Iranian Outreach fizzles. What!?!? I had no idea....
