All these people have overspent on all of these special projects and now we are paying for it. All of these politicians have been smoking crack but what can we as a people do about it, nothing. As long as these people are in control of our purse strings they have the power. We are screwed.

These politicians are all the same, and we, the people, just keep voting them in. They all campaign that they're for the little guy and for the middle class. Then, once safely in power, they do whatever they please --- try to slip in all these taxes, and, if the law allows them to do so, steal money from the next generation by borrowing against future tax revenues that may never arrive.

Jaeger, as usual you're exactly correct.

You know, not too long ago, like right before the Revolution, there was a huge list of idotic taxes imposed on the people of Boston. They were called The Intolerable Acts. Tea was one of many intems that was onerously & drastically taxed. By the time the taxes took affect, the once prosperous city of Boston had descended into a barley functioning, OCCUPIED city. After the Boston Massacre, some guys called the Sons of Libery decided to take matters into their own hands & dump ALL tea from EVERY East India Co. ship in Boston Harbor. Maybe that little tidbit of history would do well to be repeated in NYC. It'd be almost unthinkable in this day & age, but just imagine. Enough people get sick & tired of being hosed by The Man at every turn, that one day, a group of average guys hatch a plan. They will hijack EVERY SINGLE soda truck they can find (while not hurting anyone), drive them to the East River, & dump it ALL IN!!! We'll call it the New York Soda Party! Crude but effective, yes? Think they'd get the point then?

California has gone from the 7th largest economy in the world to a banana republic in just a few decades. During this time the Democrats have taken over the state government except for the governors office. We are going into insolvency and bankruptcy within months, we have ruined California by electing these people;our credit rating is F. Rather than cut government spending, they want to raise state income tax, more taxes on gasoline, raise the sales tax to over 9%, license taxes of all sorts but not cut government. We used to have balanced budgets but we also had a part time legislature. Its time to go back to those days when we had citizen legislators who only worked part time, we can't afford full time trouble makers who spend, spend, and spend even when there is no more they are the cause and the problem.

I've never met a politician who didn't think they knew how to spend my money better than me. We need a new Boston Tea Party. Let's start with the 535 crooks in DC.

If you can afford to buy a gallon of gas, buy shoes for your kids, buy a pack of cigarettes, buy a six pack of beer, buy cable or satellite TV... you can pony up some extra change to cover the costs of running your state government. The state pensions and medicaid are in dire need of infusion. These are people programs. Come on.....share the wealth! Where's your patriotic spirit?

They want to raise taxes now because of "need". As soon as the economy improves, they will raise the taxes because we "need" new government benefits and we can "afford it". Wonderful cycle isn't it? Doesn't seem to occur to them that we, the people, need a little personal money to live on.

How is it that the "smart people" we've elected to office all across this country manage to think, "We can't be out of money, we still have more checks!"? Here are some simple solutions: 1. the language used must be real language not "political speak". Many times, they say they are cutting spending but what they really mean is they're "cutting" what they'd intended to spend and NOT (as most people would take it to mean) they are spending fewer dollars than they did last year. Politicians have to stop hiding behind clever language in order to solve this problem. 2., there must be a dollar for dollar real cut in spending for every new tax. In other words, for every dollar raised, the budget must be decreased by an equal amount. 3., every state employee, from governor to meter maid, should be subject to median-based pay. In other words, no one working for the tax payers should be allowed to make more than the median wage of their state. Too many people get into government to pad their pockets and stay on public dole for life. If they want a raise, they need to improve the economic situation in the state and work to increase wages for the taxpayers--not themselves. 4. public employee unions must be disbanded. It makes no sense to have public employee unions because they can hold the public hostage. By allowing public employee unions, they essentially control how much they will pay themselves. To paraphrase a philosopher, any democracy is doomed to fail once the plebes are given power to vote themselves bread and circuses.

The trouble with these kinds of taxes is that they never go away. At least income taxes vary by need but these idiotic taxes that the politicians are suggesting are there forever. To bad we can't just make these politicians go away forever.

It's funny how the government keeps expanding, federal and state. All politicians get their benefits for themselves and spouses for LIFE. Any other job do that ? How many congress and senate jobs have the spouses or kids of ex senators and congressmen filling them ? Check it out about 24 in the congress and 23 in the senate. Must be a real good job if the kids and spouses go for the job. I believe it's the HOUSE OF LORDS. Look at the new federal jobs being created going to friends and political supporters of Obamas. payback. Then look at state and county, city jobs. How do you get one? Must be a relative or good friend or supporter of the KING in charge. Me thinks that our founding fathers did not want that for the USA. Me thinks that our founding fathers wanted congress and senate to not hold office for lifetime but to only hold office for a couple of terms and be like the common man and return to life in the real world. Need term limits on all politicians, no life terms. We are not ENGLAND no house of lords. Don't vote Republican or Democrate same $hit. Vote Independent, Constitutionalists that will take back the Gov.

As long as these crooks are voted in office by the dolts in the voting booth this will continue. Spend less, spend less, spend less! Cut programs, cut salaries, cut perks, cut travel, cut everything across the board. What is the difference between these Governors and the bank bailout executives getting their bonuses? When will the voter demand that our government should manage what they have better, not just tax more. They are laughing at us, they should be impeached for malfeasance of duty. Anybody notice when the economy is up that every governor took credit for it, when it is down they all point fingers the other way. As long as the voters are fools, they will be fooled. There is so much money in government already, let them cut waste fraud and abuse. But then they would be cutting what they thrive on. disgusting

Tens of thousands have lost their jobs, retirement, homes, etc. but hey....it's a perfect time to RAISE TAXES ! ! ! Nobody to blame but us....we keep electing these dim bulbs.

"The budget should be balanced, the treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered & controlled, & the assistance to foreign lands curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance."...Cicero "A bureaucrat is the most despicable of men, though he is needed as vultures are needed, but one hardly admires vultures whom bureaucrats so strangely resemble. I have yet to meet a bureaucrat who was not petty, dull, almost witless, crafty or stupid, an oppressor or a theif, a holder of little authority in which he delights, as a boy delights in possessing a vicious dog. Who can trust such creatures?"...Cicero
