World Counts on the U.N., Statistically 12/28/08
All of the UN's numbers that I've seen in the mainstream media had been crunched by the UN specifically to advance their hard-left global-socialist agenda.
Can the UN statistics really be trusted?
There does not seem to be any separation between the gatherers/crunchers of data and the policy makers.
The UN is not a politically neutral organization, so the inclination to make stats conform to and backup politics is a factor. In my opinion a LARGE factor.
The stats and data can not be trusted unless audited and certified by a neutral 3rd party.
It was interesting to learn that the U.N. has a heavily relied upon function extraneous to mediation of conflicts, world security, nation building and the like. It was even more interesting to learn that the U.N. dominates the data production market and that the U.N.'s various data are widely disseminated and consumed by governments and other business entities alike. However; it does give me pause as I consider what a previous comment noted: the fact that the U.N. is by no means a politically neutral organization. As such, the fact that the U.N. and the affiliated World Bank are the chief producers of demographic data raises questions as to the validity of these demographic data. Furthermore, I wonder why major governments don't have their own major statistical gathering apparatuses outside of the production of domestically related data.
