Totally insane. Christianity is so intertwined with the culture of this country from Jamestown and the Mayflower, through the nation celebrating Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Discrimination is discrimination even if it is against "non protected" groups like Christians. Justice Thomas would have been correct to use a different 4 letter work in his dissent.

"We have met the enemy and he is us." What are those idiots thinking? Imagine what destruction an Obama appointee could wreak!

We are screwed as a country! We are dying from within. With judges throwing the constitution out the window, we will never survive. Who says judges don't matter? We had better start electing politicians who believe in America first, and we won't find them on the left side of the aisle.

The worst decision since Kilo. Christian studies don't deserve the same protection as Islamic studies? Justice Thomas is on the mark.

I think this "op-ed" has sucked a few people in and that this Supreme Court "decision", while clearly believable, simply didn't happen. First, the Supreme Court's term ended June 30th. Second, the decision, at 6-3 is simply not possible. Could Scalia, Roberts or Alito be capable of such illogic? Lastly, Thomas has more class than to simply dissent by saying "Nuts!" Nice article, David. You nearly sucked me in too.

Is today April 1?

I can't find any reference to this decision (Citations in the editorial would have been nice) in a quick Internet search. I did, however, discover that Sabri Khalil al-Banna is NOT a "freedom fighter." That is, in fact, the real name of the notorious terrorist Abu Nidal.

No doubt Mr. McGinley knows that this is more than a look to the future. It is also a look to the present....across our border with Canada. Our Constitution should protect us from this type of legalistic outrage but with Justice Kennedy calling the shots, anything is possible.

I agree with fjperpiglia. A search of the SCOTUS website does not yeild any hits on the name of the school or islamic studies. The recent Heller case comes up and so do others from this term. The article also does not tell you who on the court voted which way other than Thomas. Since the title of the article is "A Look to the Future" maybe he meant this as the kind of news story we'll if Obama get elected and appoints some judges to SCOTUS!

It would be nice if he cited the case. I just looked at the SC opinion slips and found nothing remotely close to this opinion. Is this a joke? If Shrekinjv is correct I hope this moron is fired.

Sweetness

It is alarming decision that the court decision, allowing the Academy to teach Islamic studies, went unchallenged by the ACLU. This is he same organization that challenges Christian & Jewish teachings, if similarly supported by the government. Is this a paradox or is the ACLU allied with Mohammedanism? ANd, tell me again, the name of ACLU's president.

Firstly I would like to respond to the idiots trying to find the reported case on the Internet. Can you not read? You will have to have a time machine and go forward 8 years to read about it. It was written as an educated person's view of the future and the path that is being taken now leads to such a decision/conclusion. No wonder the country is in trouble if people who read an Op-ED and it starts with a date JUNE of 2017 believe it means the current date. I agree with the man's ending and quote from Thomas... "Nuts"
