Left-hander Matt Chico will need reconstructive “Tommy John” surgery on his elbow, a procedure that will sideline him for at least a year. Chico went 0-6 with a 6.19 ERA in 11 games for the Nationals this season before getting demoted to Columbus. He appeared in only one game with the Clippers before the team shut him down with a sore elbow.
