Why is Mr. Boehner imposing "local" restrictions on what we can hear? Where does he get the authority? Will satellite radio be next? Where does it say in the Constitution that radio stations have to promote localism? How is diversity in Kansas promoted by not hearing a radio broadcast in New York? Where is the ACLU? This IS censorship?
Anyone who doesn't think that this is an attempt to "backdoor" the Fairness Doctrine is naive. Localism is in fact the Fairness Doctrine, and is to be thwarted at all cost. This is aimed squarely at talk radio because it irritates to no end the liberal left leadership in Congress that their fallacies and left wing socialist agenda are exposed there. Talk radio is the voice of the people, and the people should decide whether it succeeds or not, in the free market place. Talk radio is enormously successful because the mainstream media has dropped the ball when it comes to being fair and presenting both sides of the issues. They hate that conservatives have a voice. Thank god for talk radio and the internet.
+The Democrats will use any means to silence Rush Limbaugh and the other conservative voices on radio.
There are local Television channels which satisfy any need for local issues.
Liberals are all for free speech as long as it conforms to their way of thinking. All other opinions must not be heard.
This is but another step down the path to the socialist utopia democrats are determined to take us down.
