His plan smacks more of Marxian fascism than it does of national service. Many conservatives, who deeply love their country, support change too, namely by standing up and opposing such Marxist brownshirt scheme as this and the necessary expansion of government that goes with it. Obama limits his understanding of national service to working as a drone for the government but this is a false understand. Be careful what you ask for or else we have a nation of brownshirts and redshirts running around like rats.

Diosprometheus, I'm assuming, by your comments that you won't be voting for McCain either. I know exactly how you feel.

Obama is trying to be a 21st century Roosevelt/JFK but the environment is not there. We are coming off a divisive war not an inclusive one. U.S. primacy is receding not expanding. Our values are in a civil war, just look at how the last election presented red/blue states which has reduced the effectiveness of legislative and executive branches over the past eight years. Look at the oscillation of the recent Supreme Court decisions. Obama has come up with liberal social programs (allow the uneducated military to become pollution garbage men, how nice) being normalized through a lawyers logic, sounds reasonable. In reality we don't need a 21st century New Deal, we need to stabilize the economy, an energy transition plan, an integrated National Security/Homeland Defense/Immigration plan and a Supreme Court that allows social evolution decisions of a mature society to be made by the people, not nine social intellects.

Cadres for Obama unite and organize. The options are endless. Block organizers like they have in Cuba. What a wonderful future. Big government with a volunteer cadre system. It sounds like the little Red Book of Chairman Mao too. Obama proposes The Great Leap Forward for the USA. Just think of the possibilities. A block patrol to check on energy savings, another for PC attitudes, another to check on economic driving habits and car pools, etc. All done by volunteers earning national service credits toward high school graduation. The student volunteers might not know American history or how to spell or do their math but they will get their diploma and save the planet as a bonus.

This is called indentured servitude. What Obama fails to point out is that after a few years of his “public service” he wrote two books about it and made millions. He cashed in on his “public service”. Perhaps not quite as well as the Clintons did but he is still young. Wait until after this election and see how much he cashes in then. Look – just stay in school, get a good job, if you have kids get and stay married and all will work out well. Save the flag waving for July 4th only.

This is exactly what we can expect from a typical liberal leftist. With a democratic congress, it is scary what could happen. Expand government and institute more control over everyday life and restrict economic growth. Obama is nothing new...he is an emty suit reinterating old democratic party lines made to make people depressed. America is not good, individualism is bad and no one can run their own lives.

The politicians who ask for "participation in the military" are usually the yellow-bellies who did not serve themselves.

The circus comedy that constitutes the Obama campaign. This is a scenario that has repeated itself multiple times on other issues. On terrorism - Obama is asked a straight forward question on his anticipated policies to combat terrorism; and, he responds in an equally forward manner that he would handle the issue as a police action. The McCain camp immediately exploits Obama's naive response, correctly highlighting Obama's dangerous inexperience and lack of understanding of the gravity/complexity of the issue. Obama's handlers immediately haul him into the cloak room; advise him that his response was feeble and misguided; tell him what he should have said; and, send him back into the public forum, teleprompter in hand , to read his handlers prepared text on the latest version of his position. The Main Stream Media immediately chimes-in lauding Obama for what he meant to say on the issue all-along! Unequivocally, Obama is the equivalent of a circus clown; a stand-up comic; a circus-barker attempting to lure the mentally-challenged into the tent with promises of an epiphany; a Charley McCarthy mannequin that appears to lip-sync the commentary from his ventriloquist controllers. This man is an virtual imbecile who is totally without the capacity to speak intelligently on issues on which he has not been previously programmed by his puppet masters. P.T. Barnum was right on target when he observed: "There's a sucker born every minute." ; but, hopefully the American electorate will not be duped by such a charlatan. Electing Obama as President Of The United States would be the equivalent of appointing Jack Kevorkian as Director of The National Institutes Of Health. National suicide. Greg Neubeck

Mr. Obama: I (and countless others) are already "giving back" and have been for some time by supporting and volunteering at our local Crises Pregnancy Center -- a ministry made NECESSARY by YOURs and other Damocrats' support of ABORTION in this nation. If it were not for this (and scores of other wrong policies of your misguided party - like TAXING the middle-class to death) perhaps more of us would have time and resources to help people who are truly needy - like the aged, the mentally and physically handicapped, and the working poor. Please - the last thing we need is more "Help" from the Federal Government. The best thing you can do for all of us is to stay out of our way. ... and our pocketbooks.
