MURCHISON: Zimbabwe and the liberal mind

This piece shows an odious lack of understanding of the events in southern Africa, and a disgraceful willingness to assume the conclusions reached. It would be hard to find a responsible "liberal" writer or thinker who supports the positions attributed to the liberal community (as if such a unified being exists). All can be blamed on those who disagree with the American Right, and all MUST be blamed on those who disagree with the American Right. I defy Murchison to name the apologists for Mugabe that he says are out there. On the other hand, it would be easy to produce the names of liberal intellectuals who have spoken at length of the evils of the Mugabe regime over the past several years. This type of rubbish brings no credit to this newspaper or to himself by spouting this hateful drivel.
