My thinking is Mr Bowden is correct to bring up the young players, but what he doesn't get is he can not keep these kids on a emotional roller coster ride and expect to get the best from them.
Garrett Mock, Tyler Clipper, Kory Castro are just a few that are bounced aroung like a yo-yo. They are brougth up for one game and immediate sent back down, or they stay for a few games, get thier family settle in and then bam gone again and waiting for another call up. Mr Bowden probably couldn't perform his job either if he was not sure when he went to work if he was going to be dismissed and asked to stay for a few more games. In my opinion (of course who asked for it) any confience these kids have are tore down being sent up and down. If there are brought up give them a chance to perform and see what they can do. One game for a starting pitcher is not enough playing time to see at what performace level a player should be. The Nationals are at the bottom now and it can't get any worse. Lets go for it and put these young players in the game and really see what we've got in the future. Don't just dangle the carrot, give them full bite and see if they are as good as you thought they were when they were put on the 40 man rooster.
How committed are they actually going to be to the younger players? Are they actually going to play regularly or are we going to see call-ups to sit on the bench "for the experience"?
If it's the former, sounds good. If it's the latter, I'd rather they burn the service time on the Willie Harrises and Johnny Estradas of the world.
I hope they can bring up some relief pitchers. Even with our present lineup, we are scoring enough to win most games. Our relievers blow nearly every game.
I'll believe it when the Press Releases show it.
I'll believe it when Wily Mo Pena and Felipe Lopez are no longer starters.
I'll believe it when we no longer have to put up with Colome.
