What's Obama waiting for? He said America needs to talk with Iran. Obama should immediately call the leader of Iran and tell them to quit testing these missiles that can reach Israel (Jewish voters, this is important so vote carefully in Nov.) and some military establishments of the U.S. Obama, start talking to Iran, they will listen to you talk.

Surely there must be some Iranians who do not wish to usher in the Twelfth Imam.

I support the Obamian term "Direct Diplomacy" as long as that means that Senator Obama will leave the USA immediately to have tea with the Iranian President in his place of residence, be it palace, mental hospital, or spider hole. Go Obama 2008, ...please.

Here's one of the scenario's we need to evaluate. If Iran does this without a nuclear weapon, what will they do with a nuclear weapon?

Whizzkey

Isn't this the same country that fought an eight year war with Iraq, lost over a million men and called it a draw? That was the same Iraqi army that was completely humiliated in just 100 hours in Desert Storm. It seems to me that the Iranians are better suited as assassins and terrorists than soldiers.

We have given peace and diplomacy a chance, we are now facing the very real possiblity of seeing nuclear weapons used in war for the first time since WWII, we have to move on Iran before they have nuclear weapons. The Iranian leader (I can't spell his name) thinks he was placed on earth to bring back the Mahdi, to do this he has to create a literal hell on earth. We can't allow this to happen, since the hell would include the destruction of many of our cities.

Bounce

It was a monumental mistake for the United States to invade and occupy Iraq. For the U.S. or Israel to conduct a strike on Iran would only worsen the problems in the Middle East. Why should the international community of nations allow America to possess thousands of nuclear weapons while Iran cannot even have one? The invention of the atomic bomb was an evil act, and it was wrong to drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The time is now for all nations possessing nuclear weapons to destroy them and strive for ways to promote peace without having to threaten other countries. Is America's trust really in God, as our currency says it is, or is it in our mighty arsenal of nuclear weapons? Is God pleased when nations spend billions and billions of dollars on weapons while much of the world's people are hungry and live in poverty? We must choose this day whom we will serve, God, or money and military power. Why should God bless any nation that produces nuclear weapons?

We should all stop, reestablish the old CIVIL DEFENSE CORP, and then start rebuilding those A-bomb shelters again. Remember them? Oh, I'm sorry, go ask your grandfather what they were. This IS the same thing Iran did a few months ago, or have we that short a memory? They may be running out of missiles by now, but it's so much better to fire a missile at nothing than to FEED YOUR PEOPLE! Our military KNOWS EVERY ASPECT of this joke, down to the # of bolts, and the weight of the fuel on board. The success, failure, trajectory of flight, all of it. They were TRACKED from start to finish, and we now know as much as the Iranian Military does about their missile program, if not more! Understand ONE THING, the word was NOT to do anything that could be perceived as a hostile act, both to our forces, AND to theirs. Do not start anything by a mistake. Isreal is a sovereign nation, and as such needs to protect itself, just as any other country would. The United States has no control over another nations actions or reactions to any situation.

Whether or not the Iraq war was a mistake is not relavent. It happened, just like 911. If Iran get's a nuclear weapon with their position along one of the world's choke points, they will dominate the Gulf region or promote the proliferation of nuclear weapons. In today's state of hysterical fear financial environment, neither alternative will stabilize the price of oil. Diplomacy has provided only vulnerabilities to be exploited for delays, i.e. for whatever reasons, it has failed, so provide for contingencies and do what has to be done.

CHUMMY

Isreal will never allow Iran to become a nuclear state. She (Isreal) will do to Iran's nuclear ambitious what she did to Saddam Hussein's. SHE WILL TAKE THEM OUT! And I say: AMEN!!!

RogueAmerican

Talk, talk and talk. The more the international community talks with them, the bolder they get. They have pledged to wipe Israel off the map, stirred up trouble in Iraq and want to dominate the Middle East with their brand of radical ideas. Talking with them is a dangerous waste of time.

Observe

Factual error: Israel's government is located in Jerusalem not Tel Aviv.
