I sympthise with the the tribe but the US as a whole needs to gain control of the border, we can't do this without the fence.

Lemme see if I've got this straight. 25,000 people, not ALL of whom even live in this country, have the RIGHT to trump its security? A perfect example of PC gone MAD!

Let's start with Mr. or Mrs. Buzzog's comment: The tribe's number, as stated in the article is 24,000. Read your history again. You might find it interesting to realize that what you have been taught, or not, is not necesarily the truth. All of the facts in the article are just that. Fact. If you take the time to review your American History, The treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, signed by the United States and Radified by congress, states that The United States shall honor Indigenous peoples' who occupy territories within Mexican boundaries, right to US citizenship and provide for them as such. The US was in such a hurry to aquire MEXICAN territory, that one can assume that this point was overlooked. As for PC: INTENT is still APPARENT, even with the veil of PC. Now, To respond to Mr. or Mrs. rtk_51. Indigenous people do not need your sympathy. What is needed is your comprehension of HISTORY. As a federally recognized tribe, The Tohono O' Odham Nation ( Let's pronounce it together)is a tribe with National Sovereignty. As you may or may not be aware of. That means that the United States federal Government after having exhaustively imposed strict limiting criteria, has recognized that this tribe was a NATION when their tradional Teritory was first encountered by the United States and treaties were signed to remove the Tohono O' Odam people from their traditional land and Resources. You really don't think that they chose to freely move away from land that is now occupied by AMERICANS and live in isolated and desolate lands with no resources. Do You?? As for getting control of their borders, they have been saying those words for Centuries. You know, FIGHTING TERRORISM SINCE 1492. Lastly, have you not figured it out yet, that the wall is not to keep THEM out, but to keep American citizens IN. Next, you will realize that YOUR rights will be walled off. I ask that you consider the WALL in Isreal.

Who do those indians think they are? Just because their ancestral lands were stolen from them by brute force and subterfuge, just because this country broke more than 400 treaties with the various tribes, nations and bands, just because most Indians were not considered citizens until 1924, just because they were not permitted by the Federal government to exercise their First Amendment right to practice their religions until 1978, just because thousands of their children were taken from their families, often forcibly, to be civilized and christianized in distant schools, just because tens of thousands of them were sent to concentration camps, they think they have something to say about what the government does on their lands? Ridiculous! They have their casinos, but now they need to learn their place and stop whining! All we need in this great country of ours are some more uppity indians who don't know what is good for them!

As an O'otham from Arizona who has participated in a ceremony this year I have a right to say something. We were stopped by the Mexican federally after crossing into Mexico. We presented our Tribal ID and we had informed them of the ceremony weeks prior. The troop was very mean to us. He did not want to let us through. Our driver was a O'otham who was also a veitnam vet. Those lands belong to us and they have no respect or understanding of our inherent right to cross. Neither the U.S. nor the Mexican government belong to that land. They are both alien forces that have invaded our teritory. We need help protesting this because we are the last of the Spiritual people on Earth. Without our ceremonies and prayers the world will become totally cold and heartless. This isn't about drugs and money it's about the spread of world domination by malicious forces and control of power. Help!!!!!
