The stimulus package is just what she said, a quick fix. It is a political feel good initiative that they will probably ask to be returned in a campaign contribution. What I would really like to know is how capital gains increases are going to produce a long term fix or pay down every bill every month? Also, how does spending $600 on earrings help us get through tough economic times? We must be running in different social circles.

Isn't it amazing how McCain is being thrashed for Graham's comments, yet Obama can get away with saying he plans to visit all 57 states????? Remember poor Dan Quayle was crucified over his misspelling of "potato," (which, incidently, depending on whose dictionary you are using, potato and potatoe can be spelled both ways). It also appears that the whole incident with Dan Quayle was a set up by the teachers? Is that possible????? It also appears that Senator McCain is far too quick to throw his supporters under the bus.

Please correct me if I am mistaken, but was it not the intent of the stimulus package to promote spending in order to give the sagging economy a boost? To the best of my knowledge there were no strings attached as to just what one could purchase with one's stimulus check. How Michelle Obama might choose to spend her check seems to be nothing but a childishly silly non-story though it does, admittedly, provide a bit of insignificant grist for the shallow-minded among us. And what she spends her money on is of as little interest to me as what Cindy McCain spends her tens of millions on. At least Michelle Obama is not a drug-thieving adultress like Cindy McCain which is of much more significance to me than a hypothetical pair of earrings.

It just goes to show (again) that the Obamas are completely out of touch with mainstream America and that Michelle is a complete airhead. We certainly don't need these people in the White House. I just wish we had a better alternative than McCain.

"You're getting $600 — what can you do with that? Not to be ungrateful or anything, but maybe it pays down a bill, but it doesn't pay down every bill every month," she said. "The short-term quick fix kinda stuff sounds good, and it may even feel good that first month when you get that check, and then you go out and you buy a pair of earrings." 1. Nothing government EVER does--especially when it comes to national OR individual economics--is much more than a "quick fix". 2. QUICK FIX or not, such aid--if even infrequent--is certainly much more preferable to the BIT HIT that Americans will take in their pockebooks during an Obama presidency (shudder!) through higher taxes. 3. Whatever else Lindsey Graham thinks or says about the economy, he certainly hits the nail on the head concerning the benefit that President Bush's stimulus checks can have on hardworking families, the very families who a) Michelle Obama's husband claims to be FOR, but whose six-year history of pro-tax increases is likely to hint otherwise; and who b) cannot afford to go out and buy a $600 pair of earrings. 4. If (read: since) Michelle Obama is in fact able to go out and buy a $600 pair of earrings with her OWN money, then--again, given her husband's traditional liberal tax, tax, tax philosophy so that we all can be totally and socialistically dependent on the government--just think of what she'll be able to do with YOURS for four years!

Lol since when does Mrs. Obama count as a "surrogate"? Folks, this person could be the next First Lady of the United States! Maybe she and Mrs. Arafat can go shopping for $600 earrings in Paris together. Merci beaucoup!
