Mr. Elfin,
This is a great article, and a rare look into the life of a Washington Redskins leader. Thanks for doing such great research. Now I can't wait for the season to begin!
It has been a blessing to be able to get to know Jim over the last 20 years. The impact he has had on my life I don't think words could fully express for me. His life example, and more importantly, his friendship over the years has been meant alot to me.
This article shows the uniqueness of Jim and one of the many reasons why he is such a great guy. And as his daughter stated so well towards the end of this article football is not his life. His relationship with Christ and his family are the most important things to him. They always have been. They always will be.
Let's hope his enthusiasm is contagious. This is clearly a good & decent man. Now let's see if he can win a superbowl with the amazing talent he has to work with. Few have done less with more talent than Joe Gibbs part two.
Here’s a funny Zorn story - About once a year when Jim was QB for the Seahawks, my wife and I were guests of Jim’s wife Joy for a home game. We would sit with her and Terry Largent in the “Lonely Wives” section of the Kingdome. One day, when we arrived back at their home after the game, Joy was cracking up at a not-uncommon voicemail left at 2:00 in the afternoon by an avid mountain-biking friend of Jim’s. As I recall, he was the owner of Jim’s favourite bike store, completely unaware of the NFL and Jim’s “day-job”. He just couldn’t understand why Jim was never available on Sunday afternoons in the fall and winter!!
