The guilt that Hollywood has is all about money. The filthy rich want to create the impression that they support the underdogs - so they would naturally gravitate toward the black presidential candidate. It was cooler for Jane Fonda to openly support the Viet Cong rather than US soldiers. It's cooler to adopt some little black kid from a depressed country (and let the nanny raise him/her). If you look like you are for the needy, people will not care that you get $20 million a picture and own 7 Hummers and 9 houses in the Hamptons.

Hollywood? Where's that? Movies? What are those? I say "turn it all off" - there is far more edifying entertainment in visiting family, friends, and books.

"Brothers at War" cannot find a distributor? This sounds like an opportunity for a web based solution. With today's high speed internet, multi-media PCs with huge screens and DVI outputs on graphic cards that can be used to drive even the largest TVs, why would we even need distributors? Drop that puppy on-line (if it isn't already here somewhere) and add a few comercials and sit back and let us watch it on our own terms. I can save tons of money not buying extrememly high priced pop-corn, cokes and candy. Plus I can save the cost of gas and save the planet at the same time, something I expect would make those Hollywood types happy as can be. Any commercials can simply take the place of the 30 minutes of commericals and trailers I have to watch at a theatre. Apple TV, where are you on this one?

Great article. I had no idea about Angelina Jolie. I was always worried that Atlas Shrugged was going to be more like Fight Club where John Galt turns out to be a schizophrenic terrorist. In a shocking bit of self promotion, I hope you'll check out my attempt at a new conservative anthem, set to Adam Sandler's Hanuka song: http://www.dailydanet.com/2008/06/23/the-new-conservative-anthem/

Actually, I just had a screen test for a movie that addresses this. "Under Jakobs Ladder". Set in 1940 USSR prison camp, about German/Russian Christian prisoners of conscience. Great script...so mebbe things happenin' under radar....

Great article – however I continue to confused about something. What is the moral difference between a Nazi sympathizer and a Communist sympathizer? Oh that is right, I forgot, Hollywood was the home of many Communist sympathizers who avidly supported Stalin – better not talk too much about those millions of gulag deaths – that would be uncomfortable and Hollywood would no longer be morally superior to the rest of us.

This article is about 8 years old. Patricia Heaton? You're kidding, right?

Help is on the way! This week "An American Carol" premieres and Michael Moore's brain liposuction proceeds apace. We have Zucker, Grammer, Voight, Hopper, Neilsen and other brave souls leading the way back to sanity and truth.

Ronald Reagan was not a gipper and you should be ashamed of yourselves for calling him that. He was a salesman for the General Electric Company.

Movies are about escape. Nobody wants to pay $10 to be preached at. It affects both points of view from "Expelled" Ben Stein's criminally dishonest evolution movie to Robert Redford's criminally preachy "Lions for Lambs". Also, shouldn't the free market kind of fix the situation of these horribly leftist movies? Or does the free market not work in this situation?

I had almost this exact experience at a function held at the Los Angelec County Museum of Art. I had done a lot of work with rock bands in Los Angeles, and it all came to an abrupt halt. In 2004, I was asked if I had 'early voted' against George W. Bush. I said, I was from Texas and that I had voted for Bush. When asked why, I explained that his administration had benefitted Texas, and that I thought that John Kerry had failed to convince people he was a good alternative. I added that it was unfortunate that the 2004 election had become a totally negative one, but the politial intelligence (reliable surveys) indicated that more people were set to vote against John Kerry than against George W. Bush. Within 60 minutes my status was close to "Leper": almost literally -- did you hear? he voted FOR George Bush! Really? How did he get in here? Hollywood is as you note, full of silenced Republicans. It was somewhat shocking to experience first hand how prejudiced and intolerant the Hollywood liberals are.

Great article! I am encouraged to see more and more of the Hollywood types coming into the fold. I have made it a practice to boycott the work of those who trample over all that I hold dear and then expect me to patronize their efforts at the box-office (Woody Allen, Redford, et al). I have but one thing to say: "Don't urinate down my back and tell me its raining." Especially if I am paying for it. But these are an unprincipled lot who don't seem to be affected by huge losses.

Come out of the shadows, conservatives. Do it before Nazi-wood chokes you back into the darkness. *********************************See Barry Obama videos at SlickBarry.com *********************************

Loved this article! I can't wait for more Hollywood types to come out of the closet, and I would love to see more opposing viewpoints being portrayed in their films. It's pleasing to know that not everyone in la la land follows the fold. We need more heros who will stand up and be counted. Hollywood, of all places, should know that.

Hollywood must be blindingly left wing. Before one purchases a ticket, one can predict who the antagonist will be. A christian fanatic, a corporate villain, or a neocon sociopath. Sometimes all 3. Yawn. To anyone who says that Hollywood's only allegiance is to the dollar, Bart's article shatters that delusion. Good article.
