Regardless of Mr. Bush's political motivations to impact the US election, it is easy to imagine that talking points and speeches are being completely re-written as Obama travels tonight.
Moves such as these on the part of the White House tends to lower the tide under Obama's boat, and erodes the significance of Iraq in the campagin in general.
The risk for Obama is that his trip will turn out to be a big yawn for the American voter.
There is a risk that Obama will be seen as out of touch and focused on the wrong issues.
One can imagine the photo ops and video clips of lavish dinners while the average voter here in America will be dealing with the ugly realties of the economy.
Just who is paying for this trip, is he going as a Senator or as a candidate?
Is he spending our tax dollars or his campaign donations?
Either way a case can be made that it may be a very poor investment.
Mr. Ward where did you get this was a significant shift in White House policy. President Bush has always maintained that our troops would come home when the job is done. The "job" is almost comlete as the result of the "surge" and with the current leadership in Iraq. A little more research on your part for this article is warrented.
Could it be possible that Al Qaida wants to lay in Iraq low until after the election?
