Why is it that you let the counties off the hook? The counties are the ones that created most of the problems by cranking out subdivisions before the basic infrastructure was in place to support increased traffic. Why must the brunt of the solutions come from Richmond? How about the counties forking over the cash to build and expand roads under VDOT's supervision to help ease congestion? Under no circumstance should the counties be in complete charge of any road project though, they will just screw it up.
By the way, this statement you made is a fabrication of the truth. "Unfortunately, some in the Republican leadership refuse to respond to this growing, critical need. They do not realize that transportation infrastructure is key to sustaining our quality of life and growing our economy." Thank goodness they were smart enough not to throw good money after bad by endorsing some of the brain dead ideas (taxes) coming out of Richmond.
