Except McCain is a Republican and they're merely the right wing of the liberals. Who is a conservative? Being somehow to the right of the democrats is not sufficient.

I thought liberal Hollywood was the bastion of "tolerance". Why then are these good folks having to keep their views to themselves? Could it be that the liberal, "tolerant" elite are nothing more than hypocrites? As for me, I say we should not tolerate such nonsense - speak out Hollywood conservatives! The world needs to hear your voice too!

It is sad that the media puts so much stock in the political leanings of actors and musicians. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but just because a famous person has one doesn't make it right.

DuaneNoVA, You are so right. Another shame is that they have much greater opportunity to reach a great number of people than your "average" American -- even though, for the most part, their opinions are ill-informed at best. Because of their lopsided "reach" and their overwhelming tendency to be leftists, I think it's important that their conservative counterparts speak out as well. Thankfully, the Internet -- and technology such as this blog on the Washington Times -- does give us average guys a chance to have our own say to a much larger audience than would otherwise hear it. Thanks, Washington Times, for your new web site -- and for letting us post our comments without the delay and censorship found on most other news sites (like CNN.com, for example)

Thank God the Times called attention to the plight of celebrity conservatives in hiding in Hollywood. With all this talk about suffering around the world, it's comforting to see some attention drawn to the suffering of these besieged movie stars. I know I couldn't sleep at night if I had to worry that each time I lifted a free cocktail from the craft services table, I was exposing my back to some pink-slip wielding executive who works for my notoriously leftist overlords at Fox/GE/Disney/ClearChannel. God bless Gary Sinese for the risks he takes day in and day out and God bless the unnamed billionaire that allows him to hold secret meetings in his mansion. With any luck these heroes will one day feel free to walk-among us.

The last late, great, conservative Hollywood star didn't have to have his rifle pried from his cold, dead hands. They just buried him with it. Most Hollywood actors are simpletons who think that freedom of speech means freedom from responsibility. They whine when their fans take them to task for their public, inane, anti-American tirades. Unfortunately, this doesn't happen often enough as these same actors flourish as people flock to their films.

The left bores us to death about the black listing of 7 people by the sudios back in the 1950s, at the same time they think nothing of blacklisting literally thousands of conservatives and liberal Republicans for not supporting every far left cause.

We liberals love and support our gallant troops, all except two; their stupid, incompetent Commander-in-Chief and his Vice-Henchman. We liberals love traditional values such as racial segregation and the suppression of women. Not! We liberals hate abortion except we hate more dictating the behavior of others to suit our hatreds. We liberals love the freedom of religion except we value thought and reason over the blind faith of dogma. We liberals love the institution of marriage by committing and loving one another despite irrational fears and prejudices of others. My wife and kids agree.

Hey MartyKZ, first of all you never get anywhere by drawing broad assumptions about conservative or republican ideas/ideals. Clearly you don't understand what they are. Do you seriously think that conservatives want to see racially segregated classrooms or have women denied any right a man has? Let me remind you that some of the most racist and sexist laws this country has ever past have been supported by liberals (affirmative action being the primary one... literally the definition of racism). Im not saying all liberals are racist, but I do think that many of liberal totems exist from a misguided attempt to convert the laws of the land based on emotional sentiment and not on actual fact. I hope you find the time to have a real conversation with conservatives of all stripe in the coming months as we all educate ourselves towards the next election. May you be well.

We could use a chapter in NY. Funny, when a Liberal speaks it's 1st amendment. When a Conservative speaks, he needs 3 corroborating sources to confirm the statement, "the Sky is BLUE" Marty, Lighten up .. you liberals seem to think that you're freedom of speech means to SILENCE DISSENT! You have the freedom to speak, but our beloved Constitution does not guarantee you the RIGHT To be HEARD. And what I've heard so far.. isn't WORTH listening to.

to MartyKZ (see below) Your comment re: hating abortion is totally illogical. Using your logic, you should also hate laws that prohibit murder. In other words, "we liberals hate murder, but we hate more the dictating of the behavior NOT to murder." You don't get it do you? The most basic duty of government is to protect the weak from the strong. It's even in our Declaration of Independence. Remember? "right to LIFE, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness". How can a defenseless, unborn child have Liberty or Happiness if they are DEAD! When government fails to protect the most innocent and defenseless among us, it has failed its most basic duty.

Thank you for your regards and good wishes, godmschick. The same to you. No, I do not think that any rational conservative today expects to see institutional race and sex (except "gay") discrimination. We liberals took care of that several generations ago. As far as "broad assumptions" are concerned, I agree that affirmative action is a poor substitute for good will toward all, but I would compare it with the technique of the Fed's raising and lowering interest rates as a way to control inflation. What I mean is that to the degree that the civil courts are awarding damages for race-based employment discrimination, is the degree for the need of affirmative action. It should have a "sunset" provision once we achieve a more perfect union. Now, don't get started on the trial lawyers, like most good conservatives would. But what about the rest of my points? And what's the deal with your infantile grammar and spelling?
Mark as offensive

MartyKZ

Hello, DCTruncale. Equating abortion with murder is a religious belief, not a logical, rational position. It goes hand-in-hand with Intelligent Design Creationism, Flat-Young Earthism, and a belief in the innerancy of Bill Kristol. Let's leave faith-based issues to another forum.

MartyKZ, ... as for "blind faith": have you never read: "Without faith it is impossible to please God"? (Hebrews 11:6) ... as for spiritual blindness: Jesus said: "For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and that those who see will become blind. ... If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains" (John 9:39-41) ... as for valuing "thought and reason": "the message of the Cross *is* foolishness --- for those who are perishing." "Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks (I'm assuming your are a Gentile) look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. *** For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom ... *** (1 Corinthians 1:18-25) Instead of standing in judgment against the Word of God (and those who believe it) may I humbly encourage you to read it - reflect upon it - pray about it. Perhaps the Lord will give you sight. Maranatha!
