It's interesting that Israel could be the key to this election. Russia has given Chavez a little boost in his over extended ego with their arms deal. Knowing him, he feels he will be able to withstand an alleged U.S. invasion. Why? He will want to support Iran if Israel attacks by cutting off oil to the U.S. An attack will also threaten oil supplies for the Middle East. Russia will then have energy dominance over the EU and the U.S. will have two sources of external energy supplies either threatened or cut off. All of this while Barack Obama and the Democrats in Congress provide for an energy policy that reduces carbon emissions 80% by 2050 as the top of the list item, will not allow drilling under any circumstances and Nancy Pelosi wants to pump out our strategic oil reserves to get past the election. If Israel doesn't hit Iran's nuclear facilities, Iran WILL have nuclear weapons production capability. For Obama, it's like Pandora's box, once they have it, no amount of "aggressive principled diplomacy" will put it back in the box. Thanks to the Russians, its going to be a wild ride. And then again, we may stick our heads in the sand and butts in the air.
"Barack Obama wanted to withdraw because Harry Reid and the Democratic Party insisted we had lost"
This is McCain's biggest strength, if he and his campaign supporters are willing to use it. All that is required is for that campaign to remind people that Obama saw McCain's support of the war (especially the "surge") as foolishness and that Obama believed that Iraq was a lost cause from the start. McCain was right while Obama was wrong, and people will realize this if they are only reminded from time to time.
It must be burning conservative no end that we're finally stabalizing Iraq and they get no points for it. Most people, like myself, just want it over. We're tired of paying for this war. Mr. Bay is right, Iraq is stable we can withdraw. By the way...what is we're winning in Iraq?
