ANALYSIS/OPINION:

I read with interest the May 22 reporting on Congress’ “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” hearing (“Don’t ask, don’t tell suit reinstated,” Web, National). I also read the military-family-advice column by Vicki Johnson dealing with fraudulent enlistment - a single mother concealing a criminal record and an at-home husband who squandered his wife’s combat pay during her Iraq deployment (“Army may help wayward daughter,” Plugged In, Thursday).

As both of these situations can seriously affect military readiness, I wonder whether heterosexuality is compatible with military service.
